Why don't use fibermesh? Fiber is easier and just as strong(ever tried to jackhammer fibered concrete)? Isn't fiber supposed to replace wiremesh as far as strength?

Fiber mesh is used to control srinkage cracking only it is not a replacement for structrural steel. Any one trying to tell you anything differant is wrong. Terry

Mud is only as good as the base. Agree fibers do not replace steel or mesh, watch a cracked slab on a 4-8 degree slope, mesh will keep it together fiber will let it seperate and slide apart. Cowboy example but just the way it is. Q decks can have fibers but why unless you are leaving the concrete exposed for all to see.

Many different fibers out there, steel finish on some no hairs. Fibers a a big profit item here and sold in many wrong applications. Thin pours at 2 inch is a more usefull application.

Speedy,

I thank you for your efforts and I now can see how my post read. I was referring to MR MIKES Photo bucket links.

Thanks

Funny,I just bid 3200 sq.ft. slab (mono w/cassions) for a steel bldg.The engineer spec'd 4" slab,#4-6 rebar in cassions,thickend edges.All using 4000 lb non-air w/fiber.From my experience fiber is a great crack deterant if joints cut deep enough and stones don't exceed 100 sq.ft.
