It is a foundation for someones "cottage", on an island and the only access is by barge which takes four-five hours each way there and and back. It was a great couple days of pumping! |

we emptied the hopper into five gallon buckets and dumped them back into the readi-mix trucks by hand, then put the mixers reclaim bucket under the hopper and rinsed into it.. was "lots of fun" |

Did they just dry batch the materials into the drums of the mixers and add the water once you were ready to start? |

Looks like an old trick the oldtimers used to do.They use plywood and a rod system for the forms, then use the material for decking and roof.Nice looking job, made my day. |

I think I would have bought one of those cheap plastic kiddie swimming pools to wash out into. you drove your pump onto the barge im sure they could have got some equipment on there to haul it off! This is great tho! One thing I love about pumping concrete, you never know what you are gonna get into or when you will end up on an awesome job such as this one! |

Here are some more details on the pour, it was actually split up into two separate pours (60M the first day and 50M the second). Each truck carried 10 meters of wet-batched concrete with various levels of retardent... didn't run into any hot loads at all. The first day we had 150ft. of line off the boom and the second day we had 200ft (all 3 and 2.5 inch hoses) we were really lucky and only had one minor plug over the course of both days. There was one operator on the barge watching the pump as well as the concrete slump and another operator on land running the controls. You may be able to see the small line-pump on the barge as well, which was brought to carry line/extra water, and for backup just incase the 47M had any issues. Probably could have washed into a kiddy pool, but since we had four hours to kill on the way back we decided to do it the hard way.
The forms were made from shiplap and 2X4's, I am guessing because it is easy to haul around/work with on a site such as this.
All in all things went really well, and it made for back to back sixteen hour days, reminds of the "good old days" :) |

Last time I did a barge job, we were not aloud to stay on the barge itself. We had to be on the boat at all times while travelling the water.Once parked(docked) then we were aloud to work on barge. It was a long time ago though! 93"Also in vancouver Island. Maybe policies have changed over the years. Very nice pics! |
