For all of you USA pumpers out there. Please remember to put a steel boom hose between your tip elbows and the first piece of placement pipe. Your boom manufacturer, your company, your insurance company and the ACPA thank you. ;~) |

Hey Paint Master, If you have ever watched a pump while pumping concrete, you'll notice a surge every time the valve switches over. This surge translates into a jerk or bounce of the pipeline. Since the pipe is connected to the boom, the boom moves each stroke of the pump. If the tip is hooked to hard pipe, then the stress of "the bounce",however slight, is transferred to the boom. This can and will damage the boom section. It may not break then, but it definitely weakens the metal and create a boom failure later in its life. That is why you should attach a steel braided hose to the tip elbows so the boom can move and not be stressed. It's a safety thingy, kinda like not moving the pump with boom out of the cradle or picking up outriggers with boom unfolded, ya know. |
