I've never heard of a non chrome mud cylinder. But I'd say it's worth the $1,600 for a new chrome one, With all the work you have to do to replace them.

What brand of machine are you trying to replace these cylinders on? Non chromed cylinders were quite common in the early days. Schwing, Elba and a few others first used them. You will get two to three times more wear from a chromed cylinder, but more important, your pistons will last three to four times longer. What length and diameter are you looking for?

What type of jobs do your pump do? is it like a broiler wich pumps 2500 m3 a week, or is the pump doing smalljobs, like 2 pieces of 3 m3-jobs a day? If your pump mostly do smalljobs - buy the cheapertubes, out of question. The chrometubes is more useful if your pump is pumping more than 500 m3 a week, i suppose - if the pricetag is that high on chrometubes.

My self who run a linepumpcompany, and do many small pumpjobs. I would never buy a chrometube to my pumps. In my case, better buy nonchromed tubes for cheapmoney, and change them after 4 - 5 year. instead of change the chrometube when the pump is 15 years old. I would never own a pump wich is dayli used in my company, that is older than 6 year. It´s because of me as a persone and my companybrand - fresh new-washed pumps every day and new-washed workingclothes every day. I believe that even concreteworkers are humans, and notice a washed pump and a pumper wearing new-washed clothes every day. I know that i got many pumpjobs, only because of that. Pathetic or not - do your judge!
