I just left one job and on my way to shop and refill with water for the second in the late afternoon. I received a call saying that one compnays boom was plugged bad, and could not get it clean. They wanted me to go by and pump out the remining 3 trucks. I said no problem. Pumped out two trucks, mud was real hot and splattering all over the place. I had to move the pump and reset up two maneuver boombetween 3rd and 4th story. I then hooked up to 4 inch hose and went to prime it. NOTHING. I was jammed. The mud was so hot it went off in 20 min. I then climbed down 4 flights of stairs and tried to push it through. I tried everything. I just wat to thatnnk Todd for the website, and whoever posted a while ago, about unplugging with slick willie. I dropped the hopper and remembered that post. I filled with water and put about 6 packs of slick willie. Capt trying to push it through, back and forth, finally she went. I got the boom clean thanx to whoever left that post. I sucked sponge immediately and pulled off job. I was'nt about to do this again, when it was'nt my job in the first place. I had another job to get to. I know I should have sucked sponge, but I did'nt. Did'nt think the mus was gonna set up that fast.

So is it safe to ASSUME THE " SLICK WILLY " trick works? As a last resort I will try it but I hope I do not have a plugged boom for a long while.

To telkl you the truth pumpon. From the forth floor I must have tried back and forth about 5 or 6 times. Than when I climbed down off of the fourth floor, I jumped onto the pump to try and see if I was making anyhing by watching my cyclinders. They were plugging in the same spot, so I knew I was getting anywhere. So in total I would say I tried back and forth about 10 Times, plus jogging. After using the slick willy, I kept trying to blow it through and it took about 10strokes until she let loose. I blew it all out and threw it back in reverse and ran over there to suck that spponge, boy was I relieved.

Seed, I would say it works. I found it hard to believe when I first read that post, but when I caught myself in that position I sure did ty it and it worked. Somehow that slick willy, the consistency of it worked its way through the concrete.

When you plug and see water dripping from an elbow, that water had to get squeezed out of the mix.
The same little trails that water is coming out of can be filled with the lube provided by the Slic-um.  Question, how much water did you use with the six bags of slime?  Half a hopper?

Yea, probally about half, if that actually. I had just come from another job and used up a lot of my water on that. I probally had just under a half.

Glad it worked out. What a nightmare that could have been.

Good job saveing the boom ,,, next time before you fold up to make your move -bring your boom back to the hopper and run your pump adding water to cool it off , you can always pump out the wet mud just before hooking back up to the line .

Note : how hot is the mud ? touch your reducing pipe at the hopper ,if it's warm or hot you have to make a judgement call !

Pumpbro,

How hot have you seen the reducer on the back of the truck? If I ever saw that I would wash out ASAP. How long does one think they would have if the reducer was hot? That is smoking mud!!
