Thanks for the great Comments!!!!! A lot of you have logged in and sent emails about the article and I wanted to say Thank-You to both Todd & ConcretePumping.Com for publishing the article and to everyone who has read it.We as an industry of Professional Operators have a great opportunity to help out people in our industry. What I mean by this is that because of the internet and the fact that without the costs of mail and long distance calls, we can all instantly login and share our knowledge and possibly help out the younger people learning this trade, and maybe even save someone

I was reading this article and when I came to the part that tells you how to jump off your pump, i Stopped reading. First off ,the guy in the article states that if you are still conciouss then you are ok, so why would you jump off? A news caster in San Diego was sitting in her mobile news truck when the operator raised the boom for satillite to get ready to broadcast and raised it right into the powerlines. She was ok, until she panicked and JUMPED out of the van.As she jumped the electricity grabbed her and blew both of her legs off looking for a ground. This is documented!!!!! The Electricity grabbed her!So here it is boys and Girls, something that I NEVER wanted to talk about again. I hit a 214,000 volt power main.....after all was said and done it was proven to me that if you are on your pump when the electricty stikes and you are not killed or burned or in any other way harmed then you are safe. STAY PUT!!!!! If it was going to get you it would get you way before you could even think about jumping. the electricity was arching off three of my outriggers looking for a ground, had I jumped there was plenty of juice looking for me...
