You failed to mention what type of pump you have, but I used to prime a C30 by using straight water, just enough to cover the hopper ball and seat, and holding up the 3-2 reducer (with a 3 inch elbow coming off the pump) at about 30 degrees to hold the water in the pump and be stroking when the mud hit the screen. It was always good for about 150 feet and sometimes more depending on the mud. |

Shawn, Some of your customers are correct. Only prime out as fast as needed. With a sponge or a wad of paper or whatever you use it is not necessary to prime fast as the device you put in front of the prime creates a situation where the entire circumference is coated. Any speed while priming over what is necessary only adds to the danger of hose whipping. Randy the pump doctor has it figured out. When you have been doing it for that long you will have your program down , pat.Meanwhile, while you are learning, do your customers a favor. Go slow, take your time, pay attention, listen to your system & pump. You never have time to do it right,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you always have time to do it over. ;)Bob |
