Having a cold spell here..any tricks or tips when pumping that cold you would be willing to share?  And when do you draw the line as too cold?

32 meter Schmidt by the way.

open rear transition elbow at rear of pump, and put end hose over exhaust. if truck has new emissions exhaust, use equipment exhaust. your pipe will heat up and thaw out

I am using hot water off the mixer and slick pac to prime going threw the boom. Today I had a deck pour with grout and ran hot water off the mixer ahead of the grout.

If the temps are very cold.. preheating Is a good idea. like less than 0

Thanks for the tips..have read on the boom preheating in archives..didn't  know about opening the 90..makes sense now..ty..If waiting on trucks..just recirculate to keep from freezing in boom?  Most of the boom is insulated.

yeah I get weary keeping everything hooked up.. worried it might get so warm it starts to melt kidney seals and cups. probably wouldn't but I don't want to risk that

The backend of a pump it not that tight u will not melt the kidney seal

If you don't open up you won't get a flow through the whole boom. You will only heat up your endhose Wink

On the agitator motor there is a ball valve on the supply side..In the archives of this sight I read it is installed to try to preheat the hydraulic oil by closing it and sending oil through the pressure relief.  Tried it the other day..didn't like the sound of it.  Does anyway use this method?

I do it all the time when its cold. shut the valve off and turn it back on when im ready to prime

Then as far as maximum cold You'll Pump in?  Leave up to r-mix supplier?

Dipstick I leave my 90 closed and it still goes all the way to the hopper where I can see my water in there bubbling

l just center my rock valve. Plenty of exhaust makes it way through the system but by the time its to the back of the truck its cool enough it wont hurt seal or mud cups. Hot water from mixer only a couple of minutes before i prime.

AZ.. Do you also center the rock valve?? How do you build up the pressure ? I use a 3'' hose that just fits in the exhaust and just stick it in the 5'' endhose.. Can't imagine it would build up enough pressure to go through 42m boom when the backend it tight..

By the way.. On stationairy pump+ placingboom we use a big diesel compressor.. After a few minutes it will start to produce hot air. Works great Cool

I just put the 5 inch hose over the outlet of the exhaust and no I don't center the rock valve the back ends on our pumps are not very tight
