My father and I are looking to get into the pump truck industry. As my dad is finishing up his professional career, we've always wanted to get into the construction industry of some sorts and pumping has been the most enticing to us. Our biggest unknowns as we start to get into this field would be 1. How sustainable would the work flow be for a truck or two (I understand that this will change from area to area) so more or less, how busy is the current industry for pump trucks? 2. What would routine maintenance costs be per year/month? This has been the hardest information to find. |

Have you pumped concrete before? Have you work in the industry? |

I have experience as a concrete subcontractor for a while and I am currently working for a GC. I’ve never done any pumping personally but I’ve been around it. |

in a poor economy the trailer units will prevail. having a boom can eat you up between jobs due to annual costs and cdl driver. i do alot of patios. not too much block fill and swimming pools that hard on your equipment. you need a product that you can sell like foundations or just retaining wall. etc. you should work with your local guy and find out you can hire him cheeper than making the capital investment. my problem now is my customers want extra work and prices back of what i started charging five years ago. some customers have gotten then selfs down the road on their own. and one after twenty years of pumping i cut lose for telling me how to pump and what i had coming for bucks. i may have cut my gross income in half but adding up the time spent in serving his job iam happier just not working but still have to spend time doing maintenance. i do have a new tk-1005 but until someone shows me the money its going to sit in the yard. |
