For the past week when I arrive to the shop in the morning and do my daily inspection, there is a 10 inch by 10 inch "oil puddle" on the ground right under the PTO Fork. Now my question... Does this mean the seal around the fork is going bad?? Or whats going on??? Any advise or comments would be GREATLY appreciated! |

Possibly, but I would be more inclined to say seal in main pumps. It's probably leaking hyd oil into stieble.Just a guess but I have seen that alot on your type pump. |

You need to determine whether your PTO is leaking - or - 'making oil' (as Manny suggests). |

I just received an email asking “What does making oil mean?†Making oil means that oil from one system is contaminating or adding oil to a separate system. In this instance the gear oil in the PTO unit is being added to by oil that is leaking from around the shaft seals of one of the hydraulic pumps being powered by the PTO. The seals in the PTO are not designed to contain a PTO case full of lighter viscosity oil, like hydraulic oil. What you see as a leaking PTO may really be defective shaft seals from one of the hydraulic pumps. Open the fitting where you fill the unit. If it is over full you have a hydraulic pump shaft seal problem. I hope this helps. ;~) |
