I would really like to know who this is. Anyone have the definition?, and who it may be, because apparently we are looking for knowledge! |
||
TooTall | 02-02-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
There is more than one. They are pump Gods. Perhaps they are a manifestation of the spirits of those who have passed on? Those who founded and built this industry for us, who now watch over us from above. Gardrian Angels of sorts? Though "Pump Gods" is more suiting, There is only one God. Sunshine, If you're looking for a pump"god" we have some up here. However, the ones I am reffering to happen to be "self appointed". Then again you probably have some of these guys where you are too? |

TT, I know i am going to get slammed for this, but I was more leaning towards knowledge of the Industry and promotion of such, SAFETY, professionialism, and capitalization of your vast experience. Philosophy pays no bills, or part of the equation. Maybe you should stick with your challenge. (NO PUN INTENDED) |
||
My2cents | 02-02-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
TT And you are right, THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD, THAT WOULD BE THE ONE AND ONLY YOU BELIEVE IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now lets talk about pumping concrete, AND BUILDING AN INDUSTRY TO WHICH TO THIS DAY HAS NOT HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
||
Bob | 02-02-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
Yes, your pun was intended ;~) I think that when you boil it all down, all the good and bad we experience every day; like it or not, there is one place that the real safety and training material came from. From there it spread. |

Your2cents, I beat the "Challenge" you were reffering to as a teenager, since then I have taken on many others, 13 to be exact. Each individual brand was challenge in its own. 18 years later I have found that my "vast experience" has left me with only few brands of concrete pumps that I have not run. I am always looking forward to the next challenge, The "capitalization of my vast exerience" happens every Friday in the form of a top dollar pay check. >"Now lets talk about pumping concrete"< ... Sorry man, My day started on a 37m Cifa and ended on a 48m Concord and starts again tomorrow with a line pump. I'm all pumped out from actually "Pumping Concrete", how bout your self??? Hey by the way, You would'nt happen to have a Pumpstar or Sermac I could get my hands on would ya? If not it's ok, I've heard I'm missing much, I'll get to those ones someday? |
||
TooTall | 02-03-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
... Please forgive me? I did'nt realize I was replying to one of the "self appointed" pump Gods that I was reffering to. I thought I was replying to someone with a sense of humor. I now realize that you have all the questions to everyones answers. What a challenge that must be. I will pray to the pump Gods to someday allow me to run a pump as well as you run your mouth. (All Pun Intended!) Yes, you just got slammed for the above statements, just as you predicted. I've noticed its becoming a bit of a habbit, it must be your way with words? You've put me in my place so please carry on with your vast words of wisdom so I can learn something else today...................................................................I'm listening? |

Bob | 02-03-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
T.T. I think he was just 'ribbing' you. No pun intended ;~) |

To answer your question TT, I started wth whiteman, went to schwing, then to Putz, and have not found a better pump yet, and do a hell of a job to this day pumping concrete, and I Pay Myself. You all just proved that you can not help this Industry, its because of egos it failed, and that is why it will never work. TT enjoy your check, and Bob Be SAFE AND UNBIASED if you plan to help. Can,t even ask questions on this board and get anyone to think. No wonder everyones equipment no matter what brand it is is not worth S.it. I wish I knew that many years ago, cause I would have left it all in the outhouse where all tge ones that do not think come from. NO PUN INTENDED |
||
TooTall | 02-03-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
It's all in good Pun, I'm just making sure he knows who he's ribbing and getting in some ribbing of my own. Maybe I should adjust the squelch knob on my sense of under tones and inuendo? Just one of those days I guess? I exhausted all my patience helping a guy who has only ran Omnex/ACPA controls make the adjustment to an HBC/world box. I manned the hose while he was fly fishing............I was the fly, and got my ass whoopped! |

I wish I knew that many years ago, cause I would have left it all in the outhouse where all tge ones that do not think come from. I don’t know that things are quite that bad. As far as bias goes, we all have it. A certain amount of ego is necessary to get the job done. As for who is the pump god; everyone that goes out and does it the right way. There is a certain amount of deity in that; so many ways to do it wrong and one way to do it right. As far as the answer you are looking for; I will need a little more information to even have a clue. |

I guess im a pump god athiest I do not believe in this character if there was such all pumps would have dunnage all pumps would be created equal all operators would do there job safely I guess Im more worried about pump demons they seem to rare there heads more these days now you ask me who these are and I would be more inclined to speak but as far as gods of pumping from where I sit they must be resting or they have left the country cause these demons of pricing and saturating the market are all over now and we havent seen them all yet |

Hey pudg, Maybe they got laid off |
||
Leroy | 02-03-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
Or maybe they're just pissed off and teaching us a lesson for being ignorant sheep? who ever they are? |
||
pudg2 | 02-03-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
i think Leroy has the answer well maybe us disciples can get back in his good graces and pick this industry up,as for my 2 cents you might be peeing on the wrong leg have you seen TTs hardware you might wanna go pee with the puppies cause you really steppin in with a BIG DAWG here I guess my sarcasm only goes so far cause I dont know why feathers got ruffled,but to truly answer 2s question every pump operator probably has his own the trainer that taught him the most the one with the most knowledge around him I would say it would have be what I call one of the dinosaurs of pumping 30+ years pumping knows his pumps notice not pump and has been here since the whiteman,titan,elba days back when you pumping concrete was still a art when you had to know everything about your pump or it wasnt gonna make it thru the pour you had to know concrete and the characteristics of each mix pumped it was the years that pumping concrete was mastered and people learned more everyday about pumps and pumping I could go on and on but 2 me there not "self appointed" others around them appoint them thats what makes a pump god respect from his piers and the new generation of pump operators that are in the making now or maybe they are just disciples of the Great One Mr.Schwing |

PUMP GOD!! He's the guy who get's up at 11:00 pm to go do 400 yds at 2:00 am with minimal grumbling. His truck is ready to go when he gets to the yard! He's on the job at least 15 minutes before set-up time to scope his day (or nite) out! He shows common sense and common courtesy! He shows respect to and for the people around whom he'll work.He works hard to do his job the right way,regardless of outside influence! He does his job to the best of his ability every time he goes out! If he sees something out of place or out of order,he says something! He pays attention to things big and small! He knows a little thing here may be a big thing there! He plans ahead! He tries to be as efficient as possible! He asks questions,and if he's not clear on the answer, he's not afraid to ask again! He drives courteously ,and cautiously! He fixes the small things he can before they become big problems,leaving the real big ones to the mechanics! He gets his truck ready for the next day... He's each and every one of us that are still in the trenches!!! Its easy to judge others from up on high! When you try to tell me how I should do my job from an office chair,save your breath, and get down here and show me!! I'm sorry Guys, one and all! I've been contributing to this site for at least 7 yrs, and I'm DONE!! There are way too many office operators for this job! I respect most of you,truly,but as of now I'm done here! There are too many people here who only see pumping as black and white. There are gray areas here too , and no one person is going to convince me otherwise! I will visit again, but for now Adios and Adieu. Mudslinger |

So 10 years from now when you have hung up your remote you will no longer be viable? People should not pay any attention to your experienced opinion? Actively pumping - good Not actively pumping - no good When you step back away from it a little bit you are able to pay attention to details that were not your concern as an active operator. All those million little details and lessons that you learned are still there, plus the new ones |

Mudslinger, You read some peoples title and you see Op.Manager (if your posts is pointed at me) its 1:50 am and I am at work got here an hour early to pump concrete just because I can manage and operate that makes my opinion unworthy,you dont know me just from this site yeah I run a business and I still pump now I do all what you speak of and more but my status as manager makes my knowledge useless ok if thats the way you see it thats fine doesnt bother me it shows me you just have a problem with managers,cool but Im not your manager and my words wasnt meant to offend are run anyone off,but yours if directed at me are totally unfounded and wrong 20 years I have been in the trenches and Im still there so yes Ill share my opinions, my views, my knowledge and post on this website and if you cant handle that just dont read my posts no need to leave but if thats what you choose ? idios amigos and keep on pumpin |

Hey guys and gals, I at least did one yhing with this post, (made people think), I nevet intentended to piss anyone off, but if you really think about it, I do not care how long you have been in the Industry, there is no such thing. Egos might let them think so, but if they are like me, I DO NOT KNOW IT ALL OR HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS! If there was a pump God he would step outside in the mornind with his woody and piss concrete 1600 feet vertical. All I wanted was for everyone to think everytime they make a decision, right or wrong. If you do not learn something new every day, we are wasting our time. No one has all the answers, being manufacturers, engineers, nor owners or operators. If we do not start thinking now, we all might as well go pump gas. Interesting remarks, keep thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
