I wish them well.

If I owned a pump that was traveling from job to job with out much in the way of a support structure or back-up I would want an operator that was worth more than $16.00 to $20.00.

But that is just me. ;~)

If there was ever a need to demand an ACPA Certified operator this is it!

No one can tell what any individual operator will do in a given circumstance, but at least with the certification you can say that HE KNOWS THE RULES. ;~)

Well I guess that will show Chad. He pays for an advertisement on this web site and gets slammed by one of the fellows maintaining the web site. I am sure he will come back next time he needs some help.

Bob and Aussie jump to another incorrect conclusion. I am sure they have no idea what the cost of living in Grand Forks, ND is or the job availability is. Aussie do you even know where ND is?

MR. 40667,

My comments (given over my true name) were a warning to the gentleman making the post. As he indicated, his jobs were not necessarily IN North Dakota. Further, his expertise in qualifying and hiring a servicable pump operator are if not suspect, then at least questionable. Perhaps he won't be back. If he reads all of the posts generated by his add he will at least have a better idea on if not whom, at least how to differentiate between the good, the bad and the ugly.

I had no malicious intent when I made my post; I have none now.

What I do not want to see happen is for this guy to hire the WRONG operator. His pump will be in Rapid City, his pour for the next day will be in Omaha and his operator will be DRUNK - ON CRACK- and headed for Los Angeles in his pick up.

I felt that with job qualifiers like:

Must have a CDL

Must pass a Drug test

Perhaps he would appreciate a bit of apprehension on our part.

Sorry if I have offended your sensibilities.

Where I come from it is a friend that warns you BEFORE you jump off a cliff.

I do not know either. I suspect that he may have had the add placed on the message board to elict comment from the membership; perhaps as a way to make sure he gets the right guy. No one wants to see failure or unsafe practices anywhere; especially where the operator will be the sole arbiter of what is and isn't right.

I wish them well.

hey i did not want to say anything at the first post of a employment ad but my friend that i counsule his contrution practices wants me to get a CDL and drive his 1975 mack dump for that kind of money so i tell him that he would have to give me the truck to worry about doing that. the track hoe operator makes more money but that job is taken. my customer joke is buy me a new ford flat bed and i will come to work for you, not that i care about the getting just want regular work and fist full of cash. these people will hire two meat heads to do the first project and then big bucks to the third guy when they find another job. its just a learning curve that they are going through and they want a pat on the back for being shroud/deceptive/financially rewarded.

I would like to thank all of you for your comments regarding the job post.

First, I would like to clarify that the wage range specified is a starting wage only.  It is by no means topping out where this position could go.  Regretfully, I didn't specify that in our ad.

Second, this is our first time seeking a Pump Truck operator outside the North Dakota area.  $20/hr up here is a very good wage.  I am finding out that it is not known to be a good wage in other areas.  If someone could please let me know what a good wage range would be for a pump truck operator, I would certainly appreciate it.

We do not want to bring someone on only to discover that they are not qualified for the job.  If a higher wage is necessary for that kind of a person, I feel that the wage could be negotiable.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or are interested in talking about this position.  We are in need of a good operator and at this point would love to talk to anybody who is interested and qualified to see where it would go.  I apologize if my lack of exerience seeking out pump truck operators shows in my ad.  It's an experience I'm sure I will learn from.

we were not knocking you ,just trying to point out the importance of finding yourself a good reliable operator .

What you need  with a one pump operation ,is a operator with a minimum 5 years operating exp with the mechanical apptitude to troubleshoot, diagnose & fix any problems that can & will arise from time to time , clean safty record cdl &drugfree check previous employment history, as for the hourly rate checkout what some of the pump companies in the otherstates you will be working in & take a average to come up with a fair hourly rate for you & the operator .

The wrong choice can be very costly to you & the industry as a whole as accidents not only reflect on your company but the pumping industry as a whole.

Ihope this helps & gives you a bit more insight in seeking a good operator for your company
