pumper relief valve?

Is it necessary to have the relief valve in the material stream? Could you not calculate, and set the relief of the hydraulic system on the pump its self? What is the logic in the relief? At what point of the system is the relief? The system pressure of the pumped material will decrease as it becomes closer to the discharge end of the system. = A relief setting at any point in the system, given the same setting would have a different effect in any other point in the same system. What are you trying to protect? :quest:Bob Sanderson770-403-1444This message was edited by Bob on 3-8-06 @ 11:53 AM

Bob, I was thinking last night that my idea of setting the pump relief to reflect your desired maximum system pressure might not be such a hot idea. If your relief pressure was close to your pumping pressure you would probably create an overheat situation in the hydraulic system. Pumping too close to relief pressure is never a good idea.

Not knowing the purpose, would a diverter valve work for you??
