Pumps and Paint

I have done business all over the world. In the US market we paint our pumps like drag queens. In every market pumps are painted like excavation equipment. Painted to go to work in a rough atomsphere. No chrome, no fancy stuff. We look great but is it cost effective to chrome out the truck and pumps, with decking all fancy, clamps painted special and more?? Just a question because I believe we all need to get back to basics. Use the equipment as a tool and not a date machine. Keep the dollars focused on the safety of booms and other components and in good working order. Clean but maybe cut some bells and whistles.??? And use the dollars in the bank or in the business some how. I look at some very successful people in this industry and I see machines with not such a fancy paint or truck extras. Basic company colors, clean, and cost efficient. Makes it easier on the Paint Master when re painting as well.

I agree with you 100 percent,

to me its "show me the money" and no beauty queens here, especaily me!haha

But you might be on thin ice here though, lots of bling in this crowd!! lots of really nice stuff!!Dont envy the payments either!!

Very good topic though, see where it goes...

Easier isn't always better :)

Just my opinion; if it fit in the companies’ budget and you could afford it. Why wouldn’t you have your equipment looking nice? A good part of business is image and advertising, if your unit could do both for you, it could be an investment rather than an expense. Yes it is a working unit, yes it does get dirty, but if I saw a unit like OE’s or others pull up to my job, I would feel a little more secure, thinking this company cares enough to keep there money maker in good condition.

JUST MY OPINION

I am with you paint. I am not disputing anyone or anything. But the bling is not always the factor making profit. We as Americans always look at bigger being better. Like cars, trucks, houses and such. I see a simpler more efficient way sometimes. Just a though. OE3 is a great example but how many guys spend that much free time doing what he does. It is a tool and part of a rugged line of work. No doubt two sides to it.

Graphics really is a sales tool to be sent to the advertising department.I agree OE3 has a pump to die for,but a clean unit with all the pizaz says something about the company and the operator. This is where the age old adage a "touch of class" plays big time.

Most have went with the stick on's which is cost effective over paint. After all we talking the USA and it all about marketing.I see that a company that says it all in appearence, reliable is going to be top dog.

I learned a long time ago in the military,if you can't dazzel them with brilience then dazzel them with bs.

Just an observation
