Ergonic this, ergonic that, mechadronic this mechadronic that...yuk! They should just go back to basics, make their pumps more affordable without the bullshit technology no-one cares, we want to pump concrete, must of us dont want to play with technology. They are making their machines too intelligent for their own good, flashing leds, warning systems, graphic displays, plastic booms (well not yet!) just a shifty way to make money on their machines by forcing you to book religious service intervals or it wont pump to standard. If they want efficiency, why dont they go back to their old cast manganese mould, todays mould doesnt hold longer than 80,000 cubic as opposed to 120,000 as it should. All the Germans BMW, MERCEDES, AUDI found way to make riches with technology that forces service/maintenance, cut the quality of their products and force the consumer into heavy maintenance regimes. Efficiency at a premium price! Lets not forget some of their older 'vintage' pumps built a reputation of being robust and reliable without the added technological crap. So what are they getting at? $$$ maybe? P.S. Nothing beats a good old operator who knows his machine, without having the machine question or overide his/her judgement. |

FOOTNOTE: We'll see how their figety electronic system, sensors and the like hold up to 10 years of the harsh environmental conditions of dense humid climates, snow, water, salt and dare I say the biggest killer to componentry "corrosion". |

You know PUMBO I would agree with you if I thought you were right but many industries such as the auto industry, airline industry, weapons industry and every other industry has used modern tech. to improve their products. If you want old technology just buy an old pump. An old pump sounds like your dream pump and that is all fine and good. Its like the guy that liked the 66 mustang, i love those cars but to tell you the truth I don't enjoy driving it every day. |

What the hell is wrong with you? A 69 chevy camaro is an everyday driver. It works both ways. Its nice to have a user friendly machine but sometimes its annoying to here your horn go off everytime you energize pto and start putting an out rigger out. Contractors asking is everything ok? Yes Yes. My 94 swing black in white gate valve wa the must trucsting thing I ever ran and made me a better operator, not to mention uped my mechanical skills. |

Todd, any operator would like the idea of being in control of the machine they are operating. Putzmeister's future scope of "intelligent" technology (and price that comes with it) is proboably why they have lost the market to their competitors, and their name and reputation is something that was achieved during tough times. Don't get me wrong, I love PM, they just need to lose all the questionable (do they really need them) operator assistance mechanisms. Karl Schlect said in an interview not long ago, "we want to make our pumps smart/intelligent" quetion is why the f**k would you want to do that? What gain do you have with giving a concrete pump more parameters or variables to compute? And why the hell would you spend 40% more on a purchase price of a new PM when JunJin & concord makes the same spec pump (without tech) for nearly half the price!!!

I dont like all the operator assist shit or what ever it is , i belive it makes it too easy for the operator , the operator should be thinking mnore than the machine ! the machine should be assisting the operator .... Are we going to see a new generation of puppet operators ? I hope not , all this tech from the machine takes the thinking out of being an operator , also takes the fun away from it .... What would happen if you got an operator who only knew these new highly advanced machines and got him to operate an older model whithout all bs ?? I think it speaks for itself ... |
