I don’t know what the deal is but I keep getting calls from people who are telling me that Putz is not the owner of PumpWare anymore.

Well if your looking to upgrade to Pump Magic let me know I will be more than willing to help you out.

What ever you do make sure you think twice about letting somebody else keep your data base for you.

Here are some of the questions you need to ask the new guys who now own PumpWare.

1.       How stable is your internet connection?

2.       Do you ever have internet problems?

3.       Who owns your data base if you stop paying your monthly fee?

4.       Who has access to your data?

5.       Do you have the option to not run the latest version? (bugs)

6.       In giving up control of your data what happens if it is lost.

7.       Will your software provider pay for down time or loss?  If they dont let you do the back ups will they pay for loss?

8.       What happens if your software company goes out of Business, it happens?

9.       Can hackers get to your data?

Another interesting point to ponder is that attackers' motivations are changing. Breaking into systems is becoming profit driven and organized. Essentially, software-as-a-service providers are an aggregation point for valuable data - and one juicy target. From a hacker ROI perspective, why would an attacker spend time breaking into a small company when he can set his sights on the drop point for the most valuable data of a whole group of companies? A 30-person outfit in Idaho probably wouldn't even show up on an attacker's radar, but when it lumps its customer data with 1,000 other 30-person companies  you've got some serious risk.

If your looking for software for your pumping company think about this, CONTROL.

Who controls your data, who controls your back ups, who has access to your data. When you host your data base online you run more risk of bugs, black outs, viruses, hackers and just plain internet problems.

With Pump Magic you can host your data base online or in your office your choice but we always recommend that your IT guy does the back up, your IT guy keeps you safe.

Our company does not have access to your data, its yours why should I have access to it.

I wonder what the customer service will be like. It was bad, will it get better or even worse? (not much room for worse)
