Just got the word this afternoon that the 70 meter we have here on our project and the 1st 70 meter are going to be retro-fitted with some equipment by Putzmeister and put on a plane towards Japan. I was told this pump is leaving here as soon as the permits are in place to drive it out. Putzmeister really is stepping up to the plate!

Now what have you got to say Pumpjockey and who else thought I was crazy for saying that they needed a 70 meter, our Air force has big cargo planes. |

Japan has obviously bought them. Putzmeister has seen a way to unload them, even for cost. They may have a couple thousand gallons of water directed through them before they start pumping the concrete to encase at least 3 or 4 of the 6 reactors. Numbers 5 and 6 were shut down anyways, whether #2 can be salvaged depends on just HOT the reactors on either side are. I bet that they are crushing the aggregate and arranging for cement and batchplants and mixers already. Along with getting the steel forms and cranes arranged. I think it's a lost cause. Just like Chernobyl, anything brought onto that site will never leave....Well maybe down the Japanese coast a couple miles a few years hence to encase the next nuclear powerplant. |

so maybe there is some truth to the rumor I heard; what I heard was, that one of the pumps used a Tschernobyl was making its way back to Western Europe, and a Putz service tech recognized the pump, called the authorities, a hole was dug at the side of the road and the pump was burried, most likely in concrete, right there at the spot, has anybody else heard that? |

I was told that the US Dept. Of Energy contacted Putzmeister about the machines. Word is we are going to get the one that JLS used to have on our site soon. There was reasoning behind taking ours instead of just taking that one but I do not know all of the details yet, but will share them when I do. |

We all should be proud that our concrete pumping industry is helping to save the day. |

Must be the greatest concrete pump story of all time! |

Ya really! Has anybody ever seen any pictures of the 72 Sany in action? Just got the phone call, Putzmeister is coming to pick up the pump within a few hours. They are driving it to Charleston,SC where more than likely it will be flying out of the Air Force Base there, that would be my guess. |

Putzmeister is sending a total of four more boom pumps to Japan. The two 70meters from the US and two 62 meters from Germany are shipping ASAP, along with the 58 already there. As far as Sany's 72 I do believe they have one but it has never been used, so I hear. |

Just sent the 70 off. It is heading to Charleston then to Atlanta, that is all I know. It sure seems like it is back tracking quite a bit... |

Many I was told that they are using a Russian plane that is capable of handling both machines in one flight. I believe it is called the Antonov 225 or something like that. |

You may very well be correct, thanks for the idea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-225 |

pumpjockey | 03-30-2011 | reply profile send pm notify |
I think it would be foolish to send 2 at once. Impressive as the Antov is, a crash would be extremely spectacular!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOMiKpmBmtg |

FunnyBoom | 03-30-2011 | reply profile send pm notify |
It probably has to do with urgency and cost. I was told it is a $1.6 million plane flight for the 2 machines to get there. |

Did Associated sale their pump to Putz or how did that work? I seen the pics of the pump getting prepped to leave. They was taking the stickers off and putting all Putz stickers on it. I wouldnt think that after it was used it would be coming back to the states. |
