Sany has one or two line pumps on site also.

Is it the manufacturers who has most machines on site who winns ? Is this a competition wich brand is the best ? It is a big disaster ! Why didn't Sany send the 72m , have some company bought any yet ? Or does it travel around the World to show at fairs ? I dont know if Putz has some 70 m standing at the yard .

It doea appear Putz has the inside word on these disasters

Ed, the buildings are 44m tall. Putz COULD send the 70 meters, I doubt the payments on any of the 3 in the US are up-to-date, but who wants an irradiated machine back? Unless TEPCO were to cut a cheque....

Pumpjockey I personally know of one 70 meter that is working making great money and the payments are very up to date. The other 2 I have heard are back in Wisconsin at Putzmeister, whether that is true or not I do not know. Not to make a big deal out of it but you probably shouldn't say stuff like that whether it is speculation or not unless you know what you are talking about.... I think what Putzmeister is doing a great thing and Sany as well. With todays economy it has to be tough to send any machinery there free of charge let alone 70 meters that are almost $2,000,000 a piece! Maybe you and BigEd can team up and buy these 70's you are saying putz should send and donate them to Japan. Instead of saying Putz is messing up and criticizing their generosity why don't you offer them some praise because it is certainly deserved!!

They stole my idea !!!! i thought this a week ago.....oh well....at least if ya get those pumps back they'll be great for night pours cause they'll glow in the dark !!

Looks to me the building is not much higher than the 3rd section..

rusty22 03-23-2011

I think in the end,the pumps are getting there to bury it in concrete. You have to wonder why they did not just hook up a water line to the cooling system like a stand pipe in a high rise.

The difference between a 70 and 52 is just over sixty feet. As far as exposure to radiation goes that 60 further away is not going to make a big difference. In the video it looks like the 58 meter is sitting pretty close to the building and has a good amount of boom up and over the building. So a 52 probably will get close to the same results and be just a little bit closer to the building which will not effect the operator as far as the exposure goes. I can talk about the radiation exposure and all that good stuff because I am rad-worker trained. I am certified to dress out and enter some of the hottest sites you can imagine. All I'm saying is please do not say putz screwed up or argue or make speculations unless you know all the facts about what you are talking about. Thanks.

'' Thanks putzmeister for their offer''  Do they do it for free than? Or did they have to buy the pumps?? This toppic makes it sound like putz is doing it all for free...

Putzmeister truck-mounted concrete pump is used to cool Fukushima.

For over 50 years, Putzmeister has been building truck-mounted concrete pumps. They are designed for use in the widest range of concrete applications, such as the construction of bridges or high-rise buildings.

A truck-mounted concrete pump consists of a truck, a support device, a piston pump and a boom with 4 to 6 arm sections. Putzmeister offers booms with vertical reaches of between 20- and 70-meters. With the 70Z-Meter, Putzmeister offers the longest boom that is in use in the world.

At the reactor in Fukushima, workers are currently using a M58-5 truck-mounted concrete pump (produced in Aichtal near Stuttgart) that has a vertical reach of 58-meters and a 5-arm boom in order to support the cooling of the damaged cooling pools. The advantage of this is that cooling water can be fed a great distance over the destroyed buildings and can be fed to exactly where it is required.

The pump has an output of (210 yd³/hr) 160 m³/h at a pressure of 1233 psi (85 bar) and is driven by the truck's diesel engine. This means that it does not have to rely on any external power supply. The machine is operated using remote control which allows the distributor arm to have flexible movement.

The Putzmeister M58-5 that is being used in Fukushima was intended for a customer in South-East Asia and was redirected to Japan so that it could quickly reach the nuclear power plant.

Putzmeister products have already been used in previous crisis situations. As a result of this, in 1986, a fire-extinguishing kit was offered as a retrofit on truck-mounted concrete pumps.

In 1986, after the tragic accident at Chernobyl, Putzmeister helped to make reactor block 4 safe again at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. In total, 11 Putzmeister truck-mounted concrete pumps and stationary pumps were used.

Since then, Putzmeister concrete pumps have continued to prove their effectiveness, even outside of their original purpose, when crises have occurred.
