Hello there I just started pumping and had litterally 1 day training with a non-seasoned operator, and I am really starting to get discouraged. I have only pumped a few jobs and it seems like it is not getting easier I have no one to ask advice on anything pump wise, we only have one pump. Anyways the question I wanted to ask is with the outriggers they are manually pulled out and I wanted to know if they hav to be all the way out in order to pump, I thought so but a customer disagree. with the manual pull out ones they only lock on one setting and thats all the way out. As well if anyone has any advice on this pump, I am getting discouraged but need the job. |

short rigging is never a good idea..if you can't safely set the pump up, offer to trailer pump the job. all the way out or all the way in though. no in between |

To simply answere your qeustion. Pull the out riggers COMPLETELY out. Do every job with ALL your out riggers completely out. Never never, leave them in "just a little" either. Once you have pumped for a year or more, maybe then you can cut corners, BUT for now always have your out riggers completley out. Good luck to you - pumping concrete can be easy and super difficult if you dont know what your doing.. |

Ruck,,, You are 100% correct. It is not just this industry others are doing it also. Companies think because you have 34 years of experience driving A truck that you should know everything about eveything. Its not that way. Im in my 7th week an I have now done 10 pumps by myself. I was given 4 pumps to do today an only 1 got done by myself, when I folded up I done it wrong an the Boss Man showed up an took over, An only 3 of the jobs got done. It takes time to get A routine down an to understand what you need to know an be quick an good at it. My mistake was made because I was forced into being in A hurry. It will take me 6 months of doing this before I have any kind of A clue about what I am doing. I pray you never see my Schwing setting on its side. This site has helped me A lot. Pump man,,,, I have short rigged 1 time. The job was straight out from the boom on the right hand side of the truck. Left out riggers were out only about A foot. I picked up the left hand side of the truck enough to make sure they were stable an on good ground. Tires were off the ground, Then I set it back down so tires were on the ground but not much weight on them. Then I set the right side an got the truck level. Boss said I did good. Dont expect any complements from the boss. Use commen sence an understand the customer will try not to help you because it costs them money. Do what you know is best. Use common sence. My best advice is to post A question on here every day. There are guys an girls on here who will help you. Give me A week an I will prove this site has taught me things the Boss Man has not told me !!!!! |
