I used to love to hear, "There is something wrong with your pump, this is the same concrete we poured yesterday!"

Then I ask " How come it didn't set up yesterday?"

Hey Boss: I run line pumps everyday (thats where we got into the biz) and we have found out that when we run alot of system especially with reducers in the mid. It will dry pac in the reducer from the 3-2.5 or 2.5-2 which ever the case may be. the best way to avoid this it to never prime through the reducer. We prime all the same size hose/pipe first then add the reucers then prime on. next time u get into this position try that out. If you still have a problem then the only thing it could be is the mix. Also if u are running hose there could be some wear issues in the hose that you could not see. the rubber wears thin and starts to come apart and that little flap of rubber can cause you to have a bad day. Let us know how it works in the future.

Boss Man, You shoulda changed the title then to "trouble free reducer". Setting up in a different spot is probably what fixed your problem?

I had problems yesterday when I reduced down off the back of the truck to a 4" hose into 100' of 4" hard line then reduced to 100' of 3" hose.  My 4 X 3 reducer was worn more than the hose end and caused the reducer to pack off.  I put in a 4 X 3 1/2 in front of the 4X3 and solved the problem.  It is just lucky I had the 4 x 3 1/2 on the truck or I would have been screwed being 4 1/2 hours away from the shop with the harsh mix we were pumping.
