I used my new Line pump today: Man it is a nice machine! But at clean out i noticed the "S" tube was binding. So back at the shop i tore it down to maintain the bushings. Reed is different from Schwing on the rear hub. I can't seem to get the back bushing off the rear plate. Any sugestions??

We use a log splitting wedge.

Where do you put it between the S tube and the out let flange bushing? My inner bushing it very tight or froze with grout. Does it all popout the back?

yeah, I put it inbetween the bolts holding on the "S" tube and the flange. It'll come out the back. Move it from side to side, it'll come out.

Generally you want to start the disassembly from the back end HOWEVER, loosening the castle nut 1 full turn and the bell crank pinch bolt should always be step #1 as it helps relieve the tension on the back end. After removing the cast outlet (that you clamp your reducing elbow too) my favorite tool is an aluminum or brass block or drift. Working from inside the hopper, work back and forth between the 10 and 2 oclock positions to drive the seal housing off the chromed outlet and out of the hopper (you'll need a bigger hammer than in the picture!).  The seal housing only has about a 1/4" locating shoulder to center it into the hoppers back plate. If this area hasn't seen grease in a long time you are looking it to fight it the whole way off the chromed outlet and might be better off unbolting it from the s-tube, removing both peices and then taking it to a press to seperate.

Thanks guys, Holy Moly it was kicking my butt! But finally i put pressure on it with the wedge and then took a shape chisel and went around the out side and broke the bond, it popped loose :-). The rear bushing took some doing to get apart also. This pump has low hours but has sat for the last 5 years the rust and grout made quite a bond it is a 06 and has never been apart , plus not doing a Reed before it was different.

It switches very well and smooth now. It will be over greesed from now on!
