had a customer call and ask me if there b60 would push class A concrete through 475' of 4". I just don't know the reed machines that well, so any input would be nice.

I just called Joe Mautone, the Official REED Dealer for Alberta, Canada. One of Joe's customers has a B60 working on a job right now, and I asked him how far it has actually pumped so far (the "theoretical" distances and outputs we all put on our websites aren't very useful for the real world (but that's whoooole other subject...))

Anyway, here's what Joe just told me. "Yes, a B60 will pump a normal concrete mix through 475' of 4" - but the output would depend on a LOT of factors (the concrete, rubber vs. steel, bends, reductions, etc)

Joe's customer just used his REED B60 to pump a job where he went 150 feet horizontally, then 90 feet vertically (much harder to pump than horizontally), then an additional 175 feet horizontally. Joe said the 3" slump concrete had superplasticizer added to it so it could act like a 6" slump for about 40 minutes. They were able to actually place about 15 cubic meters per hour (almost 20 yards per hour) - which worked out to be a good output rate for the 8 or 9 man crew doing a 4" thick slab.

Joe said that if you wanted to get a higher rate of pumping volume at a long distance (for thicker slab work - about 20 cubic meters per hour (26 cubic yards per hour)) you're better off with a pump with a little bit higher concrete pressure rating than the B60, like the B50 or B50HP model (they have 1361 psi vs 1174 with the B60).

And, if the customer really needs to put down the concrete - a REED C90 model would probably do double the volume of the B60 at the same distance (of course, the C90 model has a 200Hp Cummins vs. 110Hp on the B60  or 130Hp on the B50HP. Now I'm getting really off track...sooo Joe Mautone told me that he'd happily talk with anyone directly at 403-861-3638 if they have any questions about the B60 (or any of the other REED Pump models).

Thanks for the heads up Bob!

Oops...the REED C90 actually has a 220 Horsepower Cummins...(and it is sooooo quiet that you can actually have a conversation standing right next to it!)

Thanks Bob and Mike. I will pass this info on to my customer. The job that we are doing is a pipe rehab under the interstate, and found out that length is going to be 675'and their b60 was going to be used as a back up if my pump breaks. Once again thank you gents
