Looking for some advice in what to ask for when negotiating with a pump company as far far relocation package, in your opinion what should a pump company pay for when an Operator relocates his family across the country to work for a better company, quality of life?

I am currently in the southeast and am looking for a Union Job.

Thanks

I would get everything in writing. If you are moving to go to a different company they should pay you for your move. Things like gas money for the moving truck, etc. Top talent is very hard to find, just know that you are an asset to the company, and you are going there to better the company and your family life. We have hired two operators from different states this year, and we paid for their move and for their rent for three months. They have been here since Christmas and they are my two best guys. The deal has been a BOON for all parties. And we are paying them about 2 dollars above the wage scale here.

well dont even look in n.c. because we have no union here for pump operators, i would like to know why, but no big deal.

you do not need a union in this line of work to make a good living.

Bigstickman,

That is good advice about getting everything in writing. Last summer I went up to the Durango Colorado Area to work for a large company based out of Denver that had a small office their. They promised me X amout of dollars per hour and this and that and pay for my food--could stay in hotel. Everything changed when I got there. I had been their like 3 days and they change their offer from X to -X. They also did not pay for my food and then started to say I would not be able to stay n the hotel for a while. I even had great references etc. Pretty piss poor for a large company. I will never consider a relocation without a written agreement etc.
