hey all. im newish to this site from new zealand and operate a 5z37 sermac 90 percent of my jobs i do the hose as well as remote it seems everywhere else in the world the operator doesnt touch the hose on a job. every contractor expects us to layout as well as operate here. just wondering if anyone else around the world does both?

i worked in tauranga on a pump for waterhouse down at the mount,was there for nine months had to come back as could not sell house,

he had is own floor gangs but we used to lay concrete but because we worked together all the time it was okay

most jobs there would be at least two operaters i do it some times for my customer in uk but not on big jobs

it was easier to pump in nz than it is in uk

In Sweden are you not allowed to act as a hoseman - it´s ok to help the guys to pull the hose, but you are not allowed to pour the concrete in the mole because if the mole will get broken and the concrete floded away....then it´s the hoseman who has the blame. And you don´t want it to be you because it wasn´t you who buildt the mole - but the costumer can allways blame you if the case have to go to a trail. That´s why i never act as a hoseman when i only do a pumpjob. On Monday is me and one of my emploees a pumper and a concreteworker - then we do an totaljob - all from the concreteplant to a finished slab, then and only then is it ok to act as a hoseman.

Its common in Melbourne for a pump to go out single operator, since alot of builders went to fixed price jobs its not cost effective to supply a hoseman!

But if you have rigged up for a pumping and just tell the costume that your insurance don´t count if you act as a hoseman, what can the costume say to brake that? You must have rules who have the blame if the mole get broken or if the slab is not exactly in right level up/down. In Sweden is it allways the pumper who is blamed in a trail - sorry but true. It´s allways the pumper who has to proof his guiltnessless if a person get injured or a pouring went wrong - thats why it´s impossible to be a pumper and a hoseman at the same time in Sweden - except if you do a totaljob. But you in Australia must have similar rules, i think. It´s all politics and i help my costumer as well as i can - but i can´t help them to act as a hoseman because of the Swedish law. Even if a mixerdriver tell the costume that the mole is ok - but after a couple of cubic it get broken - then it´s the mixerdriver who has the blame if the case goes to a trail - even if he pour his concrete into a pump. That juridical idiotsysteme do we have in Sweden. I need to know all that lawtext because i run a pumpcompany in Sweden.

Exactly,ALMIMA, I always say : I can help you but there is no guarantee at all. Besides I pump slower when I have the hose my self than when I have a good hoseman. Just out of safety reasons.

So unless the contractor is a dumb guy that likes to take a risk with a hoseman he doesn't know and he can't blame for anything... And besides that likes to spend some extra money on extra pump hours, Waiting time for the mixers etc... Sure I can hold the hose and drive the pump. Always funn to mess around a bit without any risk of getting the blame for anything..

I run the line pump hose most the time. But the boom hose is dangerous. I once bumped a house eave with the boom because i was looking at the hose instead of the boom while running the hose. Don't be a hero..

Dipstick, I know that you will do the best for every costumer, but believe me - after a trail whith an idiotcostumer - you don´t touch the hose more than 15m from the end. You live in a country which have similare lawes as Sweden - except that Sweden are more strictly to bigunsmagazine and hard liquor. Who cares i´m married and i have a great imagination....
