We have been pumping Rip Wrap (The concrete on the side of overpasses that goes down From the bridge to the access road. Im not sure if thats how you spell it. My father doctored the mix so we pump a 2-3in slump and it still hold up very well. I was wondering if this is a common practice, pumping rip wrap. A guy from a larger company said he has asked other companys if they could pump that mix and they said no. |

Is it an "engineered" DOT mix? Be careful of those. |

Yes a common practice for areas to stablize the rip rap. They do in stream beds (water runs over) or to hold on steeper slops, mix's often has fiber. |

Here is a dam that I pumped. It is a holding dam for the water company, so they have a "pond" to draw out water. It is also to slow down the winter/spring flood waters. They dug down and placed huge boulders in the bottom and built the boulders up across the creek. We then pumped concrete in between the boulders, and then placed a slab on top and a smooth header wall on the upstream side of the dam. |
