Just got back on a week trip in a 99 34m schwing. Drove from new jersey to the boarder crossing in calexico ca. It took 4 days of driving and I burned 1250.00 in fuel. 900.00 in permits .and about 1000.00 in food and rooms. Great ride. Blew a tire in oklahoma and in Missouri I was 700 pounds over weight so I had to remove the pipes off the hopper and move them up to the front by the cab to pass the scales. Once we got into new Mexico I got off the interstate and took the backroads through the mountains into Arizona , what a ride. Crazy and really cool roads. A guy in Mexico bought it . Part of the deal was delivery Then we took a taxi to San Diego and flew back. I will try to post some pics |

Never cross the scales. Go around no matter how far. |

I tried that but it didn't matter even on small roads they had scales at point of entry at state line. Plus it's kinda hard to navigate around scales when you don't know where they are and your in dessert in the middle of no where |

Sounds like a great trip. Never run the scales, you will get caught and fined. FL has cameras and if a truck runs a scale, they get nailed. |

Been driving pumps for 18 years yet to drive thru a scale. Cross country can be fun. |

The company I work for requires us to "go thru the scales". And I cross 2 sets of scales almost every day in Louisiana. In this state you had rather kill someone than get caught bypassing. They have cameras as far as 3 or 4 exits from the scales. D.O.T. will be more than happy to come get you and show you where the scales are and give you a tour of their local jail. We use a blanket permit but also purchase trip permits daily. Yeah, Get caught without that daily permit. Simple solution...... Why not just run LEGAL?? |

$1,000 in rooms and food in four days? You must have lived like a King! That wouldn't (and shouldn't) fly at our place. |

I had my wife with me. And the last night I stayed at the Hilton resort in San Diego right on the bay. It was pretty nice. |
