Do any of you rotate your pipe and elbows? if so how often?I turn mine every couple thousand yards and get a negative response from some oldtimers .They say its a waste of time and company money when its gone its gone.Do you or your company change out pipe after so many yards or replace as it blows?

We change it at 60,000 ,from the rear end to the tip. As for flipping, the only one I touch is the first deck pipe on my 52 at 30,000.If your changing your pipe in pieces, at least you're looking at your pipe. That's more than some people do. Those are the one's we have to rescue.

mmmmm,I did.I'm not all that familiar within the past 2 years. With assigned equipment you can learn alot about your machine by doing it.What I did find was the pipes were wearing in the darnest places. With the dual wall's banging the pipe?.They do have the gauge, but how accurate?.An observation I made was even with technolgy today it becomes harder to stay on top of your game. Most companies keep a running number of yards pumped.Even at the begining of the season check a couple sections untill you know.Nothing worse than a soda can and duct tape.

We used to flip our pipes from end to end on major service but the twin wall pipes that we use now we have been advised that it is not needed. But on inspection if there is unequal wear on collars we just slacked brackets and turn slightly as for the bends (elbows) they are normally rotated when changing seals. But with the cheap seals that we use this is quite frequent.

Speedy, I've seen our other operator use lots of duct tape and a alum. can to make a plug. on pipes that he didn't have a spare on the truck. I've been fortunate that i havent had a blow out yet.

I was waiting for bob to chime in on this one.His wisdom is unbelievable.I would say why did it get to this point?.Thank goodness a plug wasn't involved and the mixer driver still has knee caps.

We use a folded up rubber glowe and insulating or duct tape (and a lot of it)and it works great. At one time elbows where sold out for 1 1/2 month´s and we used the rubberglowe/tape on it and it was fine all that time...  Had 2 put on extra glowe at one time..................... but it worked.
