Pochin's director resigns

5 Jul 2010, 15:58

David Pochin, managing director of Pochin's concrete pumping division, has resigned from the company.

The Cheshire-based development and construction group cited "difficult market conditions in the concrete pumping sector" for the removal of David Pochin as MD and his replacement by group CEO John Moss.

The move means there are now no members of the founding Pochin family on the main board.

In a statement to the stockmarket Pochin explained it had "found it necessary to continue the cost cutting exercise already started in this division of Pochin's."

The statement continued: "Unfortunately, as part of this process, we will be losing the current managing director, David Pochin. David has been with the group for 22 years and was appointed to the main board in 2004 as a director with specific responsibility for the concrete pumping business. He has been largely responsible for creating the largest, most professional mobile concrete pumping business in the UK and it is with regret that as a consequence of the economic downturn in construction, David will be leaving us."

Pochin was appointed to the board on 1 June 2004 as construction services director after being director of Pochin Concrete Pumping since 1996.

Moss, a former Amec director of civil engfineering, joined Pochin in June 2009 as chief executive
