A pumper at the yard of our competetor here in Bergen Norway was working on the back of his pump while an other truck rolled down a small slope without driver and in to the pumper geting him stuck between the 2 trucks. He passed away some hours later.. Not yet sure what happened. Eighter forgot the handbrake or it was ice on the road...

A mixertuck-driver where reversing his truck right on me when i where mixing slurry, standing behind the hopper. It was so close that i get crushed. After that incident (it was years ago) i never do anything behind the hopper when a mixertruck is near by the pump. Sorry for your friend, it´s very sad when it happends.

Not that is has eveything to do with this accident but, Here is a great solution for a prime port where you don't have to risk your life every job standing right in between the readymixtruck and your pump. A guy in our compagnie made this himself. Its a prime port on the first large reducer from the hopper. This way you can stand besides the truck. They have been using it for about 6-7 years now I believe and never had any issues with it. It works great!!

I suggest a modification on all pumps A.S.A.P. and a ban on the old primeport wich is simply very dangerous and not necessary.

What a great idea! Why isn´t that a standard on every pump? It´s a simple solution to avoid the pumper to risk his life when the mixertruck is near by the pump.

Many.. What if its a steep hill your standing on. The space is sometimes so small that if the truck roles/slides 1 feet back your stuck!! The guy of this acident also had his truck parked safely he thought.. But still it started roling.

I told you the part is already going for 6 years and has many more years in it.. How little money are you prepared to spend for our safety? Amazed about your dissapointing answer...

i usually always have my primer port full an the cap back on by the time the mixer gets there an if i have to waiit a while for mud an i decide to wait till it get there b4 i prime ill make sure i hold the mixer up short of the hopper so i can take care of it plus if hes backed in his chute is in the way

Well Many, I just think its very stupid to have the prime port there when its not necesarry.. But as usual lots and lots of complaining about a double ended hose etc but if it comes to some serious safety you use a full page to convince me its ok the way we do it and the risk is not that big...

the design of the swing elbow w/prime port at the rear of the pump made it possible for this accident to occur. it's murphy's law... so if you could improve the design to make it impossible for someone to be hurt this way why wouldn't you?

Thats what I thought to.. But I was thinking about it today and remembered that in the US they don't actualy focus so much on real safety.. Most important is that you can't get sewed when things go wrong.. Thats why no one replies to this subject.. But I should stop caring... I know what the next modification on my pump will be.. And I passed the idea on for those who use their head.. Thats enough for me..

We had our Putz 20m with the groutport on the reducer from factory , first bend rotate 360 deg . So You can probably order one reducer with groutport from Esser directly .
