If not use properly. Whats the point in using them at all. To be use correctly they need to be attached to the hose . In the event that the hose becomes separated from the farrell, the sling will catch the hose. |

You are correct!!! It looks like a good idea to attach the safety device to the exterior of the hose couple assembly when the hose is new. As time goes by it is a worse, and worse idea. We tend to ignore things that are not a problem at the time. You are way better off just doing a snug wrap with the safety sling on the body of the hose, with maybe a bit of duct tape to keep it where you want it. The real hazzard is the safety strap from the 5x4 to the 4" hose that is very likely to be sagging on the reducer; held on only by the 4" clamp. |

From 1988 to 1993 I manufactured and sold reducers, and other stuff. We welded a fixture to the reducers - top and bottom - so that safety straps could be attached. It is now 2008. Is there any reason that the customers today deserve less safety features than 15 years ago??? I don't think so. You should not have to order "extras" on your 5x4 reducers to get the attachment points. Your 'custom' order should be for a slick line pump reducer. |

ive always had a sling around my hose and a chain to catch the reducer , thank god because last yr the hose became seperated from the ferral and the strap caught the hose, so dont just strap it to the metal part of the hose , strap the rubber section toooo |

Inspect your hoses to reduce the chances of hose ends 'coming off'! In MOST cases, when a hose end pushes off of a hose, it's usually because the insert (aka 'hose body' or 'stem') has been worn completely out & there's nothing left to hold the end to the hose. Apply just a little pressure & viola, the end pops off CAUSE THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO HOLD IT ON. If you take the time to look inside your hoses at the fittings, you can see when these fittings are in need of replacement. The problem is the, 'I can get just one more job out of it' mentality comes into play & bingo too late you've just sent someone to the hospital. |
