Safety/Caution tape

Had a 47 Meter on a jobsite last week and our salesman told the operator to make sure he put caution tape around the outriggers for safety precautions. The operator is pumping along when the superintendent on the job decides to go under the caution tape and under the outrigger and comes up too quick and hits his head (with hard hat) on the outrigger. It knocked him to the ground. The operator runs over to check on him and he was fine, first thing the super asks was "Why did you put that damn caution tape around your outriggers?"

LMAO obviously that lick to tha head didnt knock any sense into him, and just because they wear the title of superintendant doesnt make them the sharpest "TOOLS' in the shed would'nt you agree?

Bob,

To prevent the above from happening. That's the funny part of the story. Sorry if you didn't get my humor.

I thought perhaps it was a job requirement or something. In a separate but related ‘ouch’ I knew a guy that stood up, or rather tried to stand up under an outrigger and compressed some vertebrae in his neck. It was a major deal. No safety/caution tape was in use.

The operator put the caution tape up, because it was a busy jobsite, trucks driving in and out and our outriggers are cream colored(No candy cane stripes or bright yellow here), so for safety's sake he put the caution tape up to keep everyone out of the area. Safety first, you know that the best, Bob.

Hahaha. All I can say is he deserved it.
As far as I know (maybe only in Norway), but to properly secure the area around the pump you need 8 cones or similar around the pump with chains or tape leaving only a 'gate' at the back for the mixer.

I would not bet my life but Schwing might consider the red stripes "safety stickers" and give you new ones. Couldn't hurt to ask ;~)
