On a particular job today power lines were involved in the picture.Anyhow, the contractor asked the concrete salesman, real nice fellow, what he thought about the power line situation. The concrete salesman said he had nothing to do with the power lines.Huh?Now this is a very, very large concrete company that really stresses safety, and the poor guy gave that answer.I do believe it would help everyone involved in this business if we had an extra set of eyes looking UP on these jobsites. |

Art that is the best thing that I have ever heard, I never thought of that. How many times in 25 years putting up with salesmen saying that power lines were no problem and they would send out a capable operator out that could handle it then the sales person was not there the day of the pour and you as the operator could not do the job safely and your the one that looks like SHHHHTTTT. This is why you promote operators to check out job sites and not the suit that lost his white colar job. |

He must give that answer. Why should he hazard a guess and perhaps be wrong for absolutely no gain whatsoever? You need to remember that no good deed goes un-punished. What if his less than professional guess was incorrect and that answer caused his company to be entangled in a legal mess? The smart guy would say just what that guy did. It is just like the lottery; If you don’t play you can’t loose. |

He may be politically correct, but when it comes down to it,he must be aware. That same redi-mix company had a truck burn to the ground about 5 years ago,I guess these salesman dont need to get involved. |
