Schwing 34XL Stroke Limiter Problems

Hey, this is my first post on here..

I have a 2000 Schwing 34XL and I have been having trouble with the stroke limiter. I was pumping with the wireless remote and the limiter kept jumping to wide open. I plugged in the wired remote and it was a little better but I only had half of the dial for adjustment. I could slow it down up to 4 on the dial and from 4 to 5 it would jump from slow to  wide open. So I was stuck either pumping super slow or super fast.

I am wondering if its a remote calibration issue or if its something else. I read the manual for setting up the stroke limiter but I can't seem to figure out where to plug in the hydraulic bar meter on the stroke limiter to set the initial settings...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Find the electric/hydraulic solenoid for volume (could be in a bunch of different places depending on style of pump).  Unplug the coil and operate for a day by adjusting the volume manually (allen wrench, twisty knob, whatever your setup is).  If everything works fine, then the problem is electric, and more than likely you just need electric/hydraulic solenoid.  If problem is still there, then it's a hydraulic problem.  Start there because most often it's just the coil on that solenoid.

Yes, up on the deck drivers side of the water box there is a knob the stroke limiter . In normal use it should be screwed all the way out for full hydraulic pressure. I think there  might be a by pass valve for the computer which is hydraulic in line? but this knob can be set up to control your volume. One time long ago i was line pumping an upper deck with my 1998 schwing 42  and i had the same issue, man a day to remember.. full volume for short burst just to get the job done, not good!

Any way Call Schwing they will walk you through it.

On the drivers side behind the water tank is a hand lever to by pass the solenoid.  1/4 turn and now you are running it manually.  Screw the black knob in to slow it down or out to speed the stroke up.  Adjust it to a slow but steady flow and pump away. You need a new solenoid which is right by the hand lever. When it fails the pump goes into full stroke.  So yours is working intermittently.

We replaced that solenoid. It was the one behind the water tank, is was in a box that has a black knob on it that you can screw in and out to control the stroke pressure. It didn't make a difference though so now we are wondering if its a controller issue. You can control the stroke limiter with the remote from 1-4 then it jumps wide open after that.  It does this on both remotes so it makes me think its a calibration issue or something else electronic somewhere. I called Schwing and they said to reset it to factory settings and it still has the same issue..

You need to see what your hydraulic pressure is doing, while you are regulating. Do you have hsydraulic gauges you can insta,l? It could be that the pressure reducing valve of the stroke limiter is hung up, and needs to be rpelaced. If you have the same symptons with both cable and wireless remote, chances are its a hydraulic pro

Yup I have gauges I can install... I read in the book that you need to install one on the stroke limiter to see what the pressures are set at but I can't figure out where to hook up the gauge at... haha Do you install it on the stroke limiter box, the one with the bypass lever where we replaces the selonoid?

There should be be two testports where you can plug in your gauge. One port is reading the supply preesure, the other one is reading the output pressure to the hyd pumps. Not xureabout your setup, schwing has a few different styles for the stroke limiter, im almost positive you have a single circuit,  which means your supply pressure is tied into the pumping pressure, (you dont see a pressure reading unless you are pumping), which makes the troubleshooting a little harder

You're right many, i think mbates needs to figure this out rather sooner thou

You are correct. The sooner I get it fixed the sooner I can pump again. Trust me though- I mentioned the Schwing course to my employer in the hopes that he would send me! Not looking good though. I'll keep bugging Seng at Schwing and the message board for now!
