I love my 39. It's a 05. You can go anything with it. nice tight set up on it, great all around pump. I heard from a schwing mechanic that the 41m are too heavy for there 3 axles and they will break leaf springs and stuff

I ll have to put on a pusher axles for the weight. But thank you trey, i ll look at the leaf spring before buying.

Tiso, a 39M is almost bulletproof, can't go wrong with, just make sure you inspect the pump before you buy it; the biggest problem with 41M we had was o/r jacking cylinder drifting down overnight, with no pressure applied to it; they tend to drift down ~1" and then they settle, if it goes down more, you need to replace the cylinder, so when you first walk to the pump, check and see how far they dropped down; another problem was the water tank, we had to replace and repair several water tanks; I have never seen broken springs or anything like that, b/c of the pump being too big or too heavy for the 3 axle truck; with the 41 you also get the Vector Control system, which is far better than CPC; overall I think the 41 would be my choice

the company im with has both and if the 41 has the 4.5" pipe i'd go with the 39, not much difference in length but cant beat 5" pipe  on large pours, and those leaky tanks on them 41s are annoying

i used to work for a co. that had both of these pumps 41 had pusher axel, so did 39 but the 41 had almost no storage space because of the curved front outriggers, no side boxes or side storage for hose or pipe... so if you need storage for system might wanna consider the 39 or why not look at a putz 40z best of both worlds that would be my choice.

i agree with toper cant beat 5 in pipe 4.5 sucks

I ran a 39m twin steer at bbcp and loved that machine. The 4 1/2" pipe I believe would be a hinderence.

WHO?? 12-08-2010

39 FOR SURE!!!!...I have ran both and the 41 is a bit squirrely Seems to me that it just aint as stable as the 39,And the 4.6 pipe causes problems of its own,Especially since it reduces right out of the turret...MY Opinion....39 is a FANTASTIC Machine!!!

Tiso, here's a picture of the ourigger jacking cylinder, I  drew an arrow on the pictures, I hope it shows; I had some that dropped all the way to the ground when parked over the weekend; newer designed cylinder are not doing that anymore

Todd: I am waiting for a video that shows two pumps chained together at the ass end, just to see which one breaks first...

Hey thank you gboom

Do you know what years they had this trouble and what year not?

gboom 12-10-2010

it was when they first came out with the 41M, 2005-2006, the design of the cylinder has been revised 3 times and the latest version seems to be working with no problem; on the earlier versions I changed seals on the cylinders with no success, but be careful if you were to do that, because some of pistons are bolted to the cylinder rod and the bolts are secured with a weld;

That cylinder creeping must be check valve related. Just replace the seals on the check valve bolt.

Swing 39m has been the pride of swings fleet and has been revised over and over again. Its like buying a car. Honda has made the accord for many many years. same goes for Chevy's silverado and so on. Go with the safe choice since its your business that will suffer if you don't. Do your homework. My personal choice would be the 39m. I've ran them both and had more pressure problems with the 41m due to the small pipe. You wouldn't think so but bad loads take there toll on your rig. My company is in the same position your in right now with the 2 rigs. But we are sure to get the 39m. I guarantee U wont be displease with the rig and besides its only a 6' difference. I mean come on you dont even have to push thehose fo 6'. lol   pump on

Ti-so,

There are many more used 39's availible vs the 41m,so if your looking for a  pump your choice will be limited in the used market.

Like another posted stated. If you purchase a used pump have it inspected by a schwing authorized inspector before you buy it.It will be money well spent as the inspection report will tell you of any deficiencies the machine has before the purchase so you wont be caught unaware and have expensive repairs after the buy.

I personally like the 39's but both machines have there purpose, send me a p/m with your contact info as I can get you in touch with a guy in New Jersey that will be able to give you a more indepth explanation to the differences of the two machines and could help you locate your machine.

@Gboom,that outrigger leg drift is not a common problem with 41m schwing machines,It most likely was unique to your machine. Hopefully you contacted Schwing and they provided you with a solution to fix it ?

@Todd,that drift video was pretty cool to watch

Boom Insp, You really don't seem to know the history of those outriggers very well. E-mail me and I can give you a more accurate time line of this issue.

ok will do Wing,Sometimes manufactures dont pass along key information to my business. e-mail on the way and thanks for your help.I sent you a p/m instead you dont have an e-mail from what I could see in your profile.

Hey boom insp.

The good thing with a 41m is more boom more money. Here in Quebec everyone as 42m so with a 41m i can do 42m job as 28m job.The thing that hold me his the reducer from 5 to 4.5.Because on residentiel there is a lot of cheap concrete supplier that cut on the recipes to make money .

Wing 12-12-2010

Ti-so, These are very good units, the 4.5 thing is only an issue if you have harsh mixs in your area. I've seen this pipe outlast 5" depending on the operator.  your right on with the boom length, this unit can out perform a 39m with ease if your not someplace like Chattanooga (very Harsh mix).

Ti-so 12-12-2010

wing the problem that we got with ready mix comp around, there s a lot private co that has one plant or two with 10-15 trucks and they don t  sell concrete they sell a price for concrete so sometimes you pump the first truck everything is find the second, one stroke forward two strokes back until they add water to get a 6 or 7 slump. It alway on residentiel work so there ain t no supervisor or guy to test the concrete.i got schwing 1200 (28m,32 and 36m)and everytime it s happen  we think at first that it s the pump and then a third  truck comes and everything go with the flow.

Do i have to be scared of buying a 41m cause of this?

I m looking for a pump with a 2525 pump kit,to me i feel like it s way better than my 1200.

gboom 12-12-2010

boom inspector, the drifting of o/r jacking was a problem with pumps built between 2005/2006, I have seen many 41M's with this problem,not just ours, but Schwing took care of this issue, they also took care of our pumps;

Boom Inspector 12-12-2010

Yea Gboom, wing sent me some information I was unaware of. Schwing has been known to take care of there customers after the sale. Im happy it worked out for you and your company.

gboom 12-13-2010

Tiso, we do have the same problem with the concrete in certain parts of our service area, and we can't send a pump with 4.5" pipe; in that case you're probably better off with the 39M and the 5" pipe, but either way you'll get the 2525 twin circuit pumpkit, wich allows you more control over the pump than the 1200's

Thank you gboom that s what i wanted to hear because i don t want to be in trouble later with my 41m.

Thanks everyone
