So we're in the market for a new boom pump (32m-36m), while looking I have noticed that a Putz with comparable hours and milage are typically 40-60k cheaper than a Schwing. All of the pumps we have now are Schwing. Due to that fact I am wondering why or why shouldnt we go with a putz? Are Putz's more likeley to break down or is it just as simple as they don't have as good resale value. Again I don't know much about Putz pumps so any insight will be appreciated. |

We have all mixed brands. So far over time the Putz is quite the same as shwing, accept for wear parts shwing is known for better wear in the long term. Safety shwing outdoes everyone mapping wear points in boom and so on. Our new shwings I wonder, they still have same if not refined safety, but times have changed economy, wise. They had to compete with you know who, from asia.
The new 39's have been ok but have failed a few times in electronics, but sure it may be a simple fix, but so far have not found it. Shwing is called on regular basis it seems. Our little 32 Putz's seem to be total trouble free so far. If you have one brand, I would be tempted to stay with it. Shwing will recover I am sure. |

Concord, Putz, Schwing, CIFA, REED, ALLIANCE, they are all good these days, used Schwings seem to sell better, some parts have come down in price I replace all of the boom hose's on my 89 32 METER PUTZ for about 1,000.00, 25 in all, If I could buy a new one it would be a 42 meter Concord Z boom. |

If schwing is your fleet now better stay there.Ed pointed out other brands that are good for sure.Shop around, there are a ton of used units out there, and, deals to be had. |

although irun schwings everyday , I'd opt for the putz z fold in that size, you can get the boom in anywhere with a small footprint

a used Putz may be cheaper, but then you need to start stocking separate wear parts for only one truck in your whole fleet. |

No matter which brand you decide to purchase, please for your benefit before the buy get a authorized Inspector to perform a boom inspection on the machine . this way you will know structurally what is wrong and wont run into any surprises after the buy.Good luck |
