Schwing Stars at World of Concrete

With a new display and Welcome Center, the Schwing exhibit at World of Concrete 2016 was once again the center of the concrete pumping industry. Starting with a packed customer reception, where Schwing CEO Brian Hazelton honored the 50th Anniversary of Pumpcrete, Schwing customers enjoyed a great week of networking surrounded by world class Schwing products. Schwing Control Technology was the talk of the ready mix producers while Schwing EASy One-Sided outrigger controls impressed pumpers and contractors. SCT is a Big Hit at WOC

Schwing Control Technology™ is the new innovative mixer control system that was launched at the show. The in-cab control system has several functions to operate the mixer safely and with cost savings. One of the new features relies on a built-in slump meter to automatically operate the drum at the optimum rpm for loading, mixing and transporting ready-mix. The inclinometer is an optional feature exclusive to Schwing-Stetter mixers. A digital slump meter works in tandem with drum angle sensors to adjust drum speed to concrete in the drum when going up hills. A seven-inch LED display keeps the driver informed. See it on-line and also in this video narrated by Jim Dickerman, Schwing’s truck mixer product manager. Fuel savings and higher mix quality are just a few of the benefits. Demonstrations at the World of Concrete were well attended.

S 28 X is a One-of-a-Kind Pump that Does Everything

Small booms are big performers in confined space placements while also pumping everyday projects. The S 28 X with four section, Double Z boom works indoors with industry-leading low unfolding height of only 19 feet two inches. The boom has more articulation than any other 28-meter with 540-degrees in the last two-sections. With the 2023-5 130/80 MPS pumpkit offering 211 cubic yards per hour output, the S 28 X is a high volume performer on structural concrete pours or pump directly from the Rock Valve with the optional 180-degree discharge outlet that makes it easy to operate as a line pump. Owners that try them usually buy more than one. High utilization, great return on investment, and in stock.

Safety Tip

Operators should be well versed in set-up with the following Safety Tip from the ACPA. “Shortrigging” describes the act of not extending the outriggers on the side away from the pour. Shortrigging is not recommended, but under certain conditions it may be required, and can be done safely if proper procedures are followed. If it is not possible to extend the outriggers on the side away from the pour, the unit can be set-up with the outriggers jacked down but not extended.

Note: Schwing’s EASy system is a safe one-sided outrigger system that utilizes the Vector controls to properly set-up the pump and keep the boom within the working range limitations. EASy can expand the safe operating area with up to 200-degrees of boom rotation on the pour side depending on the Schwing model. EASy is standard on all Schwing booms from 43 to 61-meters and optional on small pumps down to the S 28 X. See the EASy system in action.
