Setting up in tight areas with long booms just got EASy with Schwing’s one- sided outrigger system. Operators can set-up with a smaller footprint by deploying only the outriggers on one side and pump safely at maximum extension.  Currently the EASy system is standard on the S 43 SX, S 58 SX and S 61 SX.  All allowable one-sided scenarios available are integrated in Schwing’s Vector Controls.  With both outriggers on the working side fully extended, operators enjoy maximum reach and 140-degrees of slewing range.  EASy Flex expands the boom slewing range to 200 degrees with maximum extension by extending the opposite side front outrigger two-thirds.  

Even during the critical set up phase, Vector monitors and ensures the safety of the pump and its operator.  The working range limitations are guarded against operator “over-ride” with an audible signal and reduced boom speed.  When the limit is reached, the boom automatically stops.  If the operator tries to override the EASy limit with the manual hand valve, the audible signal will sound repeatedly and the boom will stop.  The system does not monitor soil pressures, but the system does confirm ground contact before allowing the boom to function.

So did they also add extra support in those front outriggers? Their rule is all the way in or all the way out, kind of contradictory and asking for trouble if they have not. 

Schwing Super X Outriggers are structurally sound in any position.  Whenever possible, operators should have all four outriggers fully deployed.  But in today’s world, with tight set ups becoming more frequent, the EASy System gives you the flexibility without compromising safety.

the Easy system has been around for many years, so why is this "the new thing"?

It doesn't say anywere that it is 'new'  It just says it was a hit
