The Cranger concrete machinery manufacturers Schwing has new management. According to the sacking of manager Thomas Ostermann early April , Gunther Abolins, has been chief of the voice-daughter Stetter (Memmingen), took over the reigns to the high road. This confirms Wolfgang Köster, Head of Personnel at Schwing, on request of the WAZ.

Reasons for the surprising departure of Ostermann not called Koster. Only this: The new Executive Director Abolins are the CEO Xianliang Sha and Achim Schröder to the side. Last but not least, confirmed Köster, and total operational manager was relieved of his duties, surprisingly, also appointed a new technical director.

Schwing, on a worldwide basis, slid about five years ago in the crisis. Since 2010, nearly 280 employees were laid off in Herne in two waves; now employs oscillating around 1000 people on several continents. 2012 took over the Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), the largest construction machinery manufacturer in China, the majority.

Economic problems
The economic situation apparently looks still not bright, even if the ousted chief Ostermann last still sounded optimistic in WAZ interview. The company's situation had "worse than expected" developed states of circles of the new management, so would set guidelines to improve the situation XCMG and the voice-family. So should, among other things, the sales department will be provided "with clear structures", implemented cost reductions and new products are developed. Vibration Personal Chef Köster do not want this (yet) comment: Vibration was in the exploratory phase, he explained.

Similarly, expresses the council. "At the present time," said council chairman Peter Brauer for WAZ, he would not take a position: "We are waiting for the new situation first and see."

seem thats "XCMG" didn"t been able so far to restructuring schwing on the profit side....  in fact i think that the real problem is that they gonna have to realise that they"re not alone anymore in the industry, the problem is that the korean manufacturer are here to stay, they have made product more affordable...more profit maker machine!!  people change...industry change... so they gonna have to change too!! otherwise??

the time of overpriced product are done... and dont tell me the ridiculous bullshit...YOU HAVE FOR WHAT YOU PAID...

fact is, that you do pay upfront the higher cost of a pump, and save later with decreased cost and labor on maintenance, with a cheaper brand this is reversed, so pay now or pay later. Try comparing a Mercedes with a KIA...

That is not what the write up is about gboom it is about changes in the way schwing will be made, cost savings.

Schwing is not an overpriced machine see how many 10-20 year old korean pumps are out pumping reliably when they get to be that age. Schwing and Putz are the ones that have made pumps into the machines they are today. They have developed this industry into what it is today. No shirt tails for them to sit on!! And for over priced if you price them with Comparable pump kits like I have, the off brands are less than 10% cheaper. For that much ill take the tryed and true  Schwing and Putz

I am just saying that Schwing pumps are going to start to change and I mean change just like the management has changed and will continue to change. I bet in 1 or 2  years not one of the people we know now will be working there, but who am I anyway, what do I know.

I am not out to just bad mouth schwing, i am just posting a story and seeing a trend, this is a strong trends coming out of Schwing, i have not seen the same trend from Putzmeister at all. Sany always loved, I mean loved the Concrete pumping market and still do. I never seen XCMG care one bit for our industry or even try to enter our industry. I have seen what looks like XCMG tying the hands of American management and treating dealers like crap and not standing behind their product like they used to. I have not see this type of behavor from Putzmeister or Sany. I personally do not believe XCMG wants to be in the Concrete Pump biz. The real money for them is in the Cranes. I have said that all along because I never seen any interest in the pumps from XCMG

There is so much lost in the translation of the article, it's tough to get much good information from it. More than anything else, it sounds like the Chinese bosses want to see profitability. Ostermann just wasn't their guy. Wholesale personnel changes? Prolly not. But someone who subscribes to XCMG's management philosophy will be at the top. BTDT with another, larger multi-national.

Biggest problem and differences between China Market and Western Markets is that in China a pump or many pumps are priced into the cost of the project to be used on, usage is not that high because the pump(s) never leave site.

In USA, Australia, UK and Germany most pumps are purchased by pumping services or pumper operators who put their name and personal assets on the finance documents and the pump(s) are paid in full before they leave the plant or dealers yard.

Not so in China ... most deals are "paper shuffles" between banks, The Schwing management are not in the habit of selling equipment and not being paid with hard money ... not I.O.U's as in China. Hence the firing squad, lucky banded in Germany. It's easy to give pumps away to build up "sales volume"

I miss Tom Anderson, but it is a new age, time to kick butt and take names. All pump companies are going to revalulate how and who they do biz with. Like that old saying Pride comes before the fall. I love this industry and those who work in it. Keep your pouder dry men and lets make some money while the market is good.

I do believe it is time to take a fresh look at the manufactures.

for those who are saying that schwings are not overpriced and are good machine...the goal of this thread is not to say if schwings are making good machine or not...the goal was simply to show a "FACT" everybody knows that schwings are very good machine.....but on my opinion they gonna have to change since the industry itself have change....of course 20 years ago they were not overpriced since they were alone with putz...lollll

saw a 98 32 meter junjin "concord" last years...and the machine still pumping today...so any korean machine well maintained will last without problem....
