Okay,so after the World Of Concrete, I noticed alot of companies mounting their vibrators on the the back of the hopper instead of inside the hopper. I like to keep equipment very clean and noticed this right off and thought this would be a great idea. I'm sure there is a reason for this, but was told it won't shake down dry concrete as well as having it mounted in the hopper. I am really considering remounting my vibrator on the outside for several reasons already, it will be under a tarp when pouring, won't get hit by the drivers, can keep it cleaner, and it's just cool looking in my opinion. What are your thoughts on this or if your vibrator is mounted on the outside, how do you like it being mounted there.

I prefer the vibrator on the back of the hopper opposed to inside the hopper myself. The reason being that if its inside the hopper, its more proned to getting hit or getting concrete in it if your cover is leaking. On the back of the hopper, it does a good job of vibrating it. The only thing you have to watch out for is the bolts coming loose and breaking off.

I mounted mine on the bottom of the grate.  Keeps it out of the way of the mixer chute, builds up with material slower (hard to believe) and what does build up is esier to remove.  It messes with the center of gravity of the grate, so that you may have to restrain it to keep it in the 'up' position.  I have seen secondary vibes mounted on hoppers as well, front and back.  I'd think the back (firewall - so to speak) would be best as it would be right above the cylinders to help lower slump mud to load.

Had some pumps where it was on the back of the hopper and found it working well. You know its very easy to adjust the power of the vibrator right? Just open the locks on the ends and adjust the ''moonshaped'' plates towards eachother.. You can make it vibrater so hard that you dammage the hopper 

Just be very carefull when working inside the vibrator. Don't switch on or you could loose a finger or worse..
