the other day my brand new nozzle kept blowing off due to large rocks making it through the hose. someone told me to cut some slits in the nozzle but didnt specify where. any info is greatly appreciated.

not a good idea. if you would like you could cut some off the tip , if it is a narrow tip. put a screen on hopper to keep the big pieces out.
