I was a scaffolding erector for plastering companies. It is so slow now in the concrete industry, I am thinking of going back to it on my days off. Maybe then I can get 40 hours a week.

Lets see, drove ready mix for 8 years then ready mix dispatch for 1 then operations manager for 3 all at the same company. Then through a wonderful restructure they decided to get rid of anybody that knew anything and then this job fell in my lap and I've been here pumping concrete 5 years. And still love it.

In  high school i used to frame homes inthe summer time. In college i worked in an aluminium anodizing plant.  Started framing fulltime after college{better money}. Then in 2000 my framing mentor started pumping.Iwas soon asked to come on boardand run the second string boom pump.  Itwas a vintage   (1978) schwing 3 section.  Ididn't know any better at the time. But it was enough to seduce me in to sticking around !

I drove mixer for 15 years along with running a Schwing trailer mount and Reed truck mount line pumps, loaders, dump trucks, transfers and some dispatching. I was turned on to running a boom by a company that was parking at the batch plant for a few months, needless to say, it ticked off the management that I was leaving, but leaving to run a boom pump. I've been boom pumping for over 4 years now.

I was a foreman for a concrete contractor, then had my own concrete business that failed. Went back to work for the same contractor who was getting out of pouring concrete and getting in to pumping concrete. Learned the ropes there. Moved to another city (for love) and finally found a company that would train me on a boom. The rest, as they say, is history.... lol

Certified HVAC Technician, Gas fitter II, was my last gig, although I still do the odd side job for friends and a few others, just to keep up on things like certification updates and such.
