I had a contractor request help with slab jacking. Is this something I can do with my boom pump as long as I have the correct nozzle? Work with pressure way down? Any advice or directions would be helpful. Thanks |

Could a real pump do it? Perhaps. Go to utube and search mudjacking. |

I'm not sure about a boom pump, a line pump will work there are several guys on here that can answer your question.

Bad memories. Most pumps will develop the pressure but also too much volume. I remember a contractor asking us to do some jacking in a public housing apartment. We were pumping real slow and once I saw the pressure build I stopped the pump. I told the Supt I think we had enough in there and the slab was jacked back where it used to be. He insisted I give it one more stroke - good thing the city inspector was there. One more stroke and I buckled the slab in the middle all the way down the building. Contractor tried to blame us but the city man stood up for us. You have to be very careful. You need a pump with pressure but low volume. |

I think it would be too fast. you'd have to turn it down to pump around 5-10 gallons per minute. |

When I used to work at Obrien's, we did lots of that on houses and even approaches on bridges. There is alot that you need. First you need a pump similar to a line pump that also has a hopper to mix your own mud. I am not sure what the pump is called but you will know it when you see it. You also have to have the right elbows with pressure gauges on it that go into the core holes. There is alot you need and the liability is much more than operating a boom pump. I would leave that job to the people that do it everyday. Just my opinion from someone that has done it and it is very dangerous. |

We did it once with a small line pump...I kept pumping and pumping after about 3 yards, the woman can running out of the house yelling "STOP"...We had broken threw the sewer line and the grout was coming up threw the toilet....3/4 of a yard on the bathroom floor...lol NO, we made no money on that job, but learned a lot !!! |
