I am in the process of tuning in the boom my 98 Putz 36. I am quorious about the process. Boom Pressure was low @ 310 so I brought it up to 360. It was worse so I brought it back down. I have had to make three adjustments so far. 1st adjustment was in the receiver with the +/- buttons. No tip hose, Working the sections one at a time and then my slewing. It was OK but seemed a bit "WACKO JACKO" ! I put the tip hose on and moved the tip while holding it in one hand. It was too quick and dangerous. Slowed it down seemed OK and went out to do a job. Still a little "CRAZY!" to me but no COMPLAINTS. Set it back up and it was my third stage moving too fast. Slowed it down It is way better " Live able" But I would like it a bit smoother.Looking for fine tuning advice.
Any suggestions? |

fine tuning is a timely process I have learned its easier to send the remote for its annual service and let putz set it to factory settings if not and you cant dial it in it may be in your beat interest to call a putz tech to take a day and set it |

Thanks for the tips guys! That is how I did my first adjustment Bob. The deal with me is I do not own a telle teach batt. There for I have to do it from the receiver by the water box. Doing it by sound. I have to give credit to my Mechanic Dave from Cole Lambert. Gave me the 101. |

Kind of hard to explain, but make sure your minimums are not set higher than your maximums. A lot of people set it backwards and mess it all up. |

Do it with the boom loaded. The boom in functions will be faster and boom out slower. Load it with water if you have to. |

Nice idea Too Tall. I went out yesterday and did some 20' stabber work. The boom was real smooth. I am on the upper side of the adjustments. |

I like the tele-teach adjustments. Their the most conveinent. You can make adjustments in between loads or wait'n on a clean-up. There are a few differences to be aware of. Most have a multi phase parameter adjustment, others are full function adjustment were you slightly engauge the function and adjust the slow end. Then go full function and adjust the max. speed (full parameter). Multi-phase each parameter is adjustable for instance, The 1st parameter is set by slightly engauging the function then set desired speed -stop- 2nd parameter is 1/2 of the remote function then adjust desired speed -stop- 3rd parameter is full function... Ive seen people adjust only the overall speed (3rd parameter) then complain about "delay" when its screwy. I've made adjustments in the yard then went out to a job and its different. Thats when I started making adjustments with the boom loaded. I've always dialed in new booms because factory techs do it with the boom empty. 100+ feet of pipe full-o-mud mkes it all come down faster & vice-versa Pump-On Seed.
