I book our truck out to a 50 yarder shop floor. I never ask too many questions, you want a pump - i send a pump. This time about 50 miles away.
SO I GET THIS PHONE CALL....
My guy says that when he got there he was the only person or vehicle there. He got out of the truck and looked at the job, and the owner arrives. He asks where the placing and finishers are, and the owner says this: 'i dont need an expensive concrete company, i got you, and you are way cheaper than a whole crew!!' This hillbilly thinks that we have a miracle machine that pumps, places, screeds, finishes concrete with only one person!!! So i get this phone call... and I immediately phone the ready mix plant and they've already sent out two trucks...now we got a situation. long story shorter, even the boss got dirty today, but we poured his floor. From now on, I ask a lot more questions... Come to think of it, I would have loved to see the look on Zeke's face when this clown told him to pump, place and finish 50 yds by himself

A few times a year customers are shocked that the price of the pump doesn't include the concrete too. |

when i first started that happened to the boss. we had just started in a new market in our state and he took the trailer pump out into the boondox. there was no cell service or a phone on site and he and one other guy placed and finished around 30yrds. |

I had this happen to me when I was driving mixer. The home owner said theres where it goes and He and his family will be back in a few hours. He thought we did it all cause his buddy didn't explain himself very well. called the finishing crew the ready mix company, so needless to say I taught the guy how to finish with plywood floats because the local rental stores had there tools out on rental. worst thing it was around 3 oclock on friday. I'll never forget it. |
