Now that's a thought to ponder. My oldest grandson and I have talked about this issue alot, his mother seems to thionk pot is ok at home.Next year he will be a senior in hs and has plans of attending a vocation school as a diesel mechanic. Now that is where the rub starts,he really wants to work for Cat and to convince them it's ok might be the impossible dream. To maintain a cdl drug testing is not going away, insurance carriers might as well say come to work any way you want NOT.The feds might be turning a blind eye to date but the motor carrier safety act won't.For the ones that don't care about a future, smoke it up,even the ditch diggers are screened.I can see it now, people standing on the corner and the sign says "will work for pot"

Just a random thought

You will not be able to operate equipment under the influence of marijuana. Just like any other legal or illegal substance that alters your reactions or judgement. If you test positve in a random or after an accident, you're probably still going to be sitting at home. Making it legal won't change workplace safety or vehicle law.

The testing positive thing goes like this..if you barely smoke..say one puff a week it stays in the system 3 weeks, every day 1 joint per day..5 weeks,..only other variable is it is metabolized in the body fat so if you are fat..well it's longer, this is for urine test..hair any amount smoked 9 months waiting time, blood test 3 to 4 hrs, saliva 4 to 6 hrs

Yes but what do the rules say.. For as far as I know its like you are not alowed to drive 'under the influense' of drugs incl alcohol which is also a drug.. It doesn't say there can not be any traces of it in your body.  Would be rediculous to do a hair test and say: HEY you smoked a join 6 months ago. You can not drive today Undecided

the testing system is getting to where they can tell at what time marijuana was smoked , I recall a bus driver given a test and they could tell he had smoked within 6 hours of having a accident, as with alcohol , there is testing for DOT and traffic policeman to test whether you are under the influence or not, now I do not seeing DOT changing there policies , but lets be honest DOT drug test are a joke , I've seen guys take them and pass and know for a fact they was high at the time the test was taken, there is a allowable amount in most test, if you are a part time user , and sweat like most pump ops do in summertime , your chances of failing are slim, another major factor is whether you are a heavy cigarette smoker and have tar and builup in lungs that hold the THC in your lungs longer, for instance a runner that occasionally smokes pot, or a athlete , or someone that consumes lots of water , it will flush out of there system at a higher rate, in my opinion, I would rather have a occasional pot smoker , than a occasional binge drinker, no hangover, does not call in sick (due to hangover), does not show up smelling like alcohol or pot , because he used the night before, but rules are rules and we all have to live by the same, if you fail a drug test , you will lose your job in most cases , its just sad you can draw a government check and not have to follow the same guidelines as people that get up and go to work everyday, just my opinion.

All THC tests are different.  They are based on nanogram cut off limits.  One company might have a 0 nanogram while another one has 150.  How long it takes to get clean will vary on the individual and amount used.  Now the hair test is rumored detectable for several months no matter how much you use.  Nobody should come to work while using anything.  The fact is that drugs are illegal and  your just a good ole boy if you come in with a bad head and red eyes from drinking.

I would fully support a time test of sort.  I think after 12 hours you are back to your normal self.

and also on the hair test , there are ways around that now also , there are cleansing shampoos, and razors , a hairless body leaves no way of testing hair, I am with most and say a test that can determine times of use I would be in favor of.
