Hey does anyone know of a really good degreasing soap that can be sprayed on the ram/brain area of the pump without damaging hydraulic hoses etc? I need something to melt off the grease so it will just come off  by spraying water afterwards. I could be just dreaming. LOL

I usually would not do this ........................ but........ this stuff works like a champ!!! Forget the part where they tell you to dilute with water. Use it right out of the bottle. Put some on and let it work for a while, like while you are pumping. It may take a couple of applications but this stuff is the answer. WEAR EYE PROTECTION & RUBBER GLOVES & A RAINCOAT !!!!!!!! DO NOT GET THIS IN YOUR EYES OR LET IT SOAK INTO YOUR PANTS!!!

`Russ,

Do not use this product full strength on your cab or any other nice paint (like your boom - etc). It will, if left standing on a dark painted surface, bleach out areas where the product 'runs'. I like 'dish soap' for those areas. But if you have some funky grease/grime, then this is the tool for the job. I had a pick-up with 235,000 miles on it and the engine compartment looked like it had 1,000,000 miles. I sprayed this stuff on and let it sit for about an hour and then used the pressure washer to rinse it off.............. man it was 'brand new' clean. Oh, by the way, it was a white truck so no sweat on the paint; but It needed a wax job. It cleaned the truck down to the PAINT.

Be careful please ;~)

I personally would not buy that product. I think that you can find other stuff out there that would be cheaper and work as well or better. Check out this stuff, i have never used it but if you call them they will let you know what they have that will work well for you.

Many companies make good degreasers that are environmentally friendly.

But on the other hand Bob knows what he is talking about.

His text is small but it is all relative, if your running 600 x 480 his text is big but if he is running 1680x 1050 than Big Eds text is so small i can barely read it. The best text all round to use is #12 works well for most.

Big Ed,

I would like to try some of that. I do not park my pump at our main shop. so I only get to pressure wash it abot once every few weeks. I have been using simple green, it works ok but i need something a little tougher on the grime that build up after oiling every day.

Thanks

Russ

To Russ,  After you get the pump cleaned,  spray down with hyd oil,  go to Harbor Freight and buy some cheap tarps.  I tarp down the back end,  outriggers, and up top.  Just keep an eye on your hyd oil temps in the summertime.  Iknow it gets really hot out in Texas.  Saves alot of cleaning time.  Also hand wax anything you can,  especially the top of outriggers, backsplash, and top of cab.  The more you wash a pump with harsh detergents the more the paint will fade.  FRANK

What all do you guys tarp off? and how do you keep the tarps on? and does anyone touch up their paint themselves

Thanks guys,

I will give all this stuff a try in the upcoming weeks and report back on the results.

JT tarp everything you can on large pours, it requires less clean up. I have a 10x10 tarp I use when I do anything over 100 yards to keep that blasted concrete off the end of the truck. It has a tendency to get hard and stick to things. LOL

Gotta love the Z

We use something called sandblaster 2000 made by Ankem. Just spray it on, and it will eat right through concrete haze and light splatter in minutes. Anything heavier requires repeat applications or more time to work. If it's over a 1/16" thick forget it. It's an acid based cleaner, but it won't harm paint. We've used it for a long time now, and so far it hasn't hurt anything on the truck. Although it will eat the clear off our shop floor.
