The Job card said 32 mtr boom for a driveway slab mix was 32mpa 20mm agg 80 slump. We got to the job site and filled out all the paperwork, passed all the safety checks and they ordered concrete. About 40 mins later concrete turns up and I backed the truck on and the tester grabbed the docket. So the driver starts discharging into the hopper and as soon as I see it I was thinking there is something wrong here. I asked the driver what’s this? It looks a lot like exposed concrete. Without any hesitation the driver was yep its 32mpa 10mm agg 80 slump black exposed concrete. It even had pump mix written on the docket, which Hanson don’t actually guarantee is pumpable. I said yeah a squeeze pump or if you’re feeling lucky a piston line, but I’m sorry I’m not going to put that through the boom. So I made a call to check if we had sent the wrong pump, but we hadn’t, so I ended up washing it out and watching them shoot it out the back of the truck. My line hand helped them shovel for a bit while I was washing out. When I went to get the docket signed and asked the engineer what happened and he said they are in a legal battle at the moment as it’s a private driveway and the owner had specified that concrete which costs $AUS380 sq mtr and they hadn’t factored the cost into their original quote for the job. The funny thing was they weren’t even exposing the concrete. It was going to be broom finished and someone would come back later on to water blast a pattern into it. |

funny how the customer knows all about high rock and color, ya when this driveway slab weathers it will look really nice. if it was an interior slab that was polished it would be worth a fortune. do you get hired to pump or just to make the job happen via phone call ha ha. |

Why do you have a high pressure hopper bowl on that pump, or is that just how they are sold there? |

I was asked to pump exposed agg mix in a couple weeks. I don't know if I'll try it, first I need to look at the mix design. One time they sent it for block fill and my old 28 schwing wouldn't even pump it passed the turret. At the time my cutting ring was leaking and that makes a big difference. I got screwed twice by that RM company I didn't know any better they were sending pea rock mix with 1890lb rock. It should have 1290. Now I run a 02 32m schwing. Tight ring, and clean pipe it might pump it? |

Mr Wibau - That’s what I like about this site, there’s always someone here who does the things that are a little left of centre and are willing to give advice. I haven’t had much experience with exposed and what I have has been done with squeeze line pump. And people who do have the experience have told me it’s pretty hard on the wear gear and is not common practise. I will keep your number handy, the chances of me being in this situation are highly unlikely these days, but never say never;-) Typesdubs – It is a S31HT Telescopic that was built in Germany and was a special order having a BP4000 Pump Kit fitted. So you can pump inside shed in the morning and pump your 30-40 storeys in the arvo, that was the theory I think. Hey Drew mate, your right I was not 100% sure about it, and I really didn’t really feel like a boom party on a Wednesday morning!:-o |

think i already told u mate piston pump will do it need to make sure they put pump aid in and your wear gear is good, in saying that the builder has to take responsibility if it won't pump because most agi companys don't gurantee its pumpable.like ya pics too mate. will have learn to do that so everyone can see the legend in action. |

Hi Jono You can pump exposed but as it has been said if you get it wrong you are in for a big clean up, we have two pumps a 15m squese which will do it and a 29m piston also and lately we lined 20m2 100m up a drive through the squeese boom(not the pump it self) Here is how we have done it It is normaly about 25mpa and 13mm stone and about 130mm slump if it is to dry ( like in your hopper, NO) you will plug and to wet the concrete will seporate and same as above , have your displacement about half and engine reves same or lower if you try to pump fast it will block in your pipes, and prime with cement as the prime products don't work |
