I was checking out the pumps 'at auction' and noticed that the Korean pumps are for the most part... absent. Why is that? This is an interesting phenomenon. ;~) |

Just incase some one of you has been on another planet, in prison or in a coma the construction industry is experiencing a bit of a slow down. Some people are lowering their prices, some are laying off all but essential personnel, most everyone is feeling this reduction in available work to one degree or another and doing what they can to survive. In a down economy an auction is usually a poor way to sell iron. It is at least not the first choice. Some folks, for one reason or another have been forced to auction some machines any-way. Conspicuous by their absence at these auctions are the Korean machines. Why? It just may be because they are working very well and it is easier to make payments on a $350,000.00 machine than a $430,000.00 machine of the same size and income producing capability. Just a theory ;~) |

I don't believe there better quality,I just think their more affordable, in 5 years you'll probably see more on the market, but I don't think you will see less major brands at the auction either, there is so many people that ran out and bought pumps thinking it was an easy way to make millions, the jokes on them now, pumping is not easy and theres better ways to get return on your money, naturally for what you pay for the korean pumps your profit margin has got to be higher for the first couple of years, but when the pumps get some age on them beware of high repair bills, not that there bad pumps, but you get what you pay for, either pay now or pay later. We have competitors running them and their reputations have suffered due to breakdowns whether its their lack of maintenance or the pumps themselves I don't know. Not talking bad about them just saying what I have seen.I am interested in trying one of the concords but I'd like to see it work and operate one for myself before I take that leap, the sany pumps I haven't seen them but in pictures, pumpstar not impressed at all,kcp haven't even seen one in pictures,Opinion:stick with the Germans high quality, high price, good pumps. |

The Korean machines will start showing up at auction too. Since it requires less $$$ to service the debt it will allow their owners to hold off the beast a little longer. The part of the argument that gets me is "what is it about the Korean pumps that is inferior?" They use the same steel (or stronger) and the components are the same. What has always made Schwing the best of the best was the people behind the pumps. If another builder puts the same effort into taking care of his customer he will have the same positive result. Any pump, any where that is not maintained will have problems. If you run two different machines made of the same components, please tell me what the difference is... aside from the people behind the machine? There isn't any difference! Your customers don't even care. They just want their mud pumped with a minimum of drama. Look at the machines at auction, these are not old clunkers. These are top of the line, current production models. And the only real difference between the pumps you find on that RB auction site and the Korean units that are not there is THE PRICE. |

PUDG, If given total control over the process… a dream; my pump would have bits and pieces of several different brands. So “who has the best pump†is really very subjective. The answer is; which ever one you feel is the best. ;~) |
