Sorry I Can't Do It!

I had a job last week where the customer called and wanted the pump on site for a residential job. Nobody had time to take a look at the site before I headed over. When I got to the site, concrete was early and everyone was standing around waiting for me. Well let me tell you they weren't to happy with me when I walked around the street and came back and said "Sorry I Can't Do It, I need to maintain 17 feet from those wires!!" All looking at me like I was crazy, trying to tell and show me how I could do it. Well after calls to my company and calls to the our concrete plant saying your operater won't do it, we work out a plan. Seems the nieghbouring house owned the property next door and didn't mind me setting up on his front lawn 17+ feet away from those wires. So the job got done and everyone went on to their next job, all safe and sound. I'll have to get one of those stickers so next time I can be pointing at it at the same time!

ya you got invited to a barbeque so maybe the last guy told them no also. some customers are are crap and need to eat a job to get a clue. they think that you owe them something and if it does not work out for them they want your insurance information. learn to say no.

07*42 had the best possible outcome.

He said no to the BB-Q and still made the pour.

THAT is being part of the solution, not the problem.

I am 100% on the side of safety. But we as professionals are paid to assess the risk - find the safe solution - MAKE THE POUR......... that is the bidnez we be in. We are not paid to say no, we are paid to find the safe alternative.
