Tuesday I bought a new tire for the front of my 32 meter, i think it was a 2.65? i can't remember but the big wide steer, anyway it shakes the cab from speeds 40-50mph. Its a off brand tire but still cost $600 bucks. I'm too busy to go back and bitch right now but? WTF? Is there any fix? They didn't balance it but did mention I could dump a pack of something inside. Any tips?

Are your wheels piloted?   If is a kumho take it back they are known for having the belt shift in the tire.  I would only buy Michelin! best truck tire in the world hands down

Is a Sumitomo. Piloted? I don't know what that means? Its a 4.25/65 R22.5. Yeah, I'm usually a Name Brand guy thats what I get for listening to the tire sales man. If I can't get it fixed I might have to return it and get a different brand.

Is it perhaps you only replaced one tire?

first, Sumitomo is not of brand, it's one of the biggest tire company's in the world. Dunlop and Goodyear are a part of it Your problem could be that the tire is not well fit on the rim or the wheel is not well fit to the axle, maybe some rust or dirt behind the wheel. lift the wheel and check if it's turning smooth

  • Go back and demand that they balance it, its just an imbalance when it only appears at certain speeds. If it was anthing else mentioned it would be present all of the time !

They could have gotten a flat spot if they have been stored standing.

You can check the hooks that hold your cab down?

The side with the new tire jumps wildly. Maybe a balance would help? Their machine wouldn't go that high. Yeah only one tire, but its just on that one side. I'll look into it further been busy today getting ready to build a new shop. Had to dig trees out and tear down and burn a big shed. Productive day though, just cleaning out the shed was a job.

These: http://www.centramatic.com/Home.aspx in conjunction with 2 bags of the balance beads in each tire should do the trick. Keep in mind there are several balance bead manufacturers out there, go with their recommended procedure/quantity. I had a gravel truck with 385's on the front that wouldn't balance with beads alone, adding the centrimatics did the trick. Other 'Home Remedies' for tire balancing include adding a gallon of antifreeze to each tire, (engine, windshield or RV) sometimes effective, usually not, but always messy. or even throwing in 3 to 5 golf balls. ???? I can't see that being effective.

It's not uncommon for some of these tires to be out of balance.Stick with the Michelin and change both steer tires as a set.Save the good one as a spare, just cause, and your problems should go away.here an example of one product that could help but go with a set of the bubble guys 1st.

piolted is likea car tire and lugnuts.  not a snap ring type set up usually found in older pumps.   And they do not balance those tires but it sounds like a belt shifted or a week side wall!  Take it back no mater what hope it helps ya stay safe

Back then they used a dayton wheel, they split rig version went away a long time ago.

On this version alignment of wheel to hub is critical via the wedges.Still a good bet to return tire to supplier and buy a set of the bubble guys.

This is the budd wheel, pretty self explanitory, love em.

Im with Seed on this one. It is because of the difference in the two tires. I have been getting shaken like a martini for the past couple of years in my 32 because the tires were replaced at different times. This also cause heavy wear on both. I just had both steers replaced at the same time and, now she is riding finer than frog hair. Not one shake at any speed. I know it is expensive but you can keep the other tire incase you lose one of the new ones later for a replacement.
